    Q
Will Bifen XTS kill stink bugs?
I'm looking for something that will kill stink bugs. I already have Bifen XTS but don't see these on the label. Also, is it too late to spray for stink bugs now?
    A

Bifen XTS can be used to control stinkbugs outdoors. Bifen XTS, like most products, is not specifically labeled for stinkbugs because this pest is so new to the industry. Most professionals use the highest allowed usage rate on the product label for the area they are treating when trying to control stinkbugs. You should treat monthly through November for stinkbugs and other overwintering insects. You can start earlier next year around the July or August.

    Q
Can Bifen XTS, Permethrin SFR and Tekko Pro be mixed together for outdoor use?
For chiggers, mosquitoes, fire ants and fleas.
    A

Two insecticides, like Bifen XTS and Permtherin SFR 36.8%, should not be mixed together. They're both synthetic pyrethroids and creating such a mixture could be too strong and backfire, causing insects to avoid the treated areas. Tekko Pro IGR, however, can be mixed with either of these insecticides. Although Bfien XTS would be the better option in treating chiggers, mosquitoes, fire ants and fleas.

    Q
    Will Bifen XTS kill bedbugs?
    A
No, Bifen XTS is not labeled to kill bedbugs and is an outdoor only use product. For bedbug control you will want to use one of our Bedbug Kits as these are the most accurate way to eliminate an infestation in a home. Each kit comes with step by step instructions in the box to help make sure you get rid of all of the pests.

  • Asked by Neith from Long Beach, Ca
    05/13/2013
    Q
Can I pour Bifen XTS into the sprayer, set it on 1 and go spray happy?
I have the product but my math is iffy. I have a 1 once per gallon hose end sprayer. I understand to rid myself of spider mite I need to use .07-.15 fl oz. So my question is if I set my sprayer to 1 should the product be cut or remain as is?
    A
Hose end sprayers are not the most accurate so for your application a hand pump sprayer would be much more preferred. At no time should you go "spray happy" with a rate at anything other than the label suggests. According to the label, for Spider Mites on ornamentals, you would use .38 -1.28 ounces per every 10 gallons of water. The Bifen IT would be better for your needs than the Bifen XTS as spider mites are not its main usage and is a much higher rate of the active ingredient, therefore causing you to have to dilute much further down for your needs. If your sprayer dial has options for teaspoons per gallon as well as ounces, and you can select an option for 2.5 teaspoons per gallon then your hose end sprayer can be used. Other wise you will need to change your application rate. Please look back over the product label for the product you purchased.

  • Asked by Melvin from Brazoria, Tx
    02/28/2019
    Q
Can I apply Bifen XTS directly to a fire ant mound?
    A

Yes, Bifen XTS can be applied directly to fire ant mounds. According to the product label, it should be applied at 0.06% rate (1/3 fl. oz./1 gallon of water) and you want to sprinkle the mound, using 1-2 gallons of dilution, until it is wet and apply to a 4-foot diameter circle around the mound. When treating mounds larger than 12”, use the higher volume. Do not treat in the heat of the day and for optimum results, apply in cool weather, such as in early morning or late evening hours.

  • Asked by Dan from Pensacola, Fl

    Q
What is proper application of Bifen XTS for sod webworms?
When, how often and how much to treat. Currently have lots of moths in grass.
    A

The mixing rate of Bifen XTS for sod webworms is 0.07-0.15 fl oz per 1000 square feet. This generally mixes in 1-2 gallons of water. To ensure the best control for sod webworms, postpone watering or mowing for at least 24 hours after application. This can be done every 21 days as needed.

    Q
Which product would be best for treating fire ants? Bifen XTS or Bifen IT?
    A

Since Bifen XTS is oil-based it will hold up better outdoors than Bifen IT. Bifen XTS also has a higher percentage of active ingredient, so you will  use less per application  You may also want to take a look at our Fire Ant Control Page for more information on treating and preventing fire ants. Instructions for Fire Ant Control using Bifen XTS are below.

Bifen XTS for Fire Ant Mound Treatments:

Sprinkle the mound, using 1-2 gallons of dilution, until it is wet and apply to a 4 foot diameter circle around the mound. When treating mounds larger than 12”, use the higher volume. Do not treat in the heat of the day and for optimum results, apply in cool weather, such as in early morning or late evening hours

  • Asked by Phyllis from Little Rock, Arkansas

    Q
I just placed an order for Bifen XTS for fleas at my house. Can I use it indoors also?
After I placed the order I saw where the bifen IT is for indoors. Really can't afford both products. I have had to leave my dog at my parents until I can get rid of these fleas so she can come home. I don't want to use the bifen XTS in the house if it will harm my dog. Am hoping to use this product indoors and outdoors (maybe adjust the product/water mixture??) I tried to call you but it was after hours. Thanks.
    A
No, Bifen XTS is not labeled for indoor use. We would recommend using Onslaught Insecticide with an IGR (insect growth regulator) for indoor use. This can be sprayed in the areas where fleas are present. You will vacuum daily for 14 days and do a second treatment.

  • Asked by Ron from Milford, Pa

    Q
Mix ratio for carpenter ants on Bifen XTS.
Looking to mix ratio per gallon. Using a 1 or 2 gallon sprayer mixing with water for carpenter ants etc.
    A

Bifen XTS is mixed at 1/6 fl oz to 1/3 fl oz per gallon of water per the label.

Bifen XTS is labeled for carpenter ants. Bifen XTS will eliminate carpenter ants that come into contact with treated surfaces. Termidor SC is the more popular choice for carpenter ant control because it is non-repellent, has a delayed reaction kill and has a transfer effect. This means that the ants cannot detect that an area has been sprayed and cannot avoid the treated area, as they walk over the area they pick small particles of Termidor SC up on their body and inadvertently carry back to the colony spreading it to other ants.

    Q
    Talstar comment questions and concerns
I read two comments that concern me. One is that Bifen is not as versatile as Talstar and that Talstar doesn't seem to break down in the desert heat. Bifen XTS is obviously more potent than Talstar so how could this be? Aside from active ingredients are these two not basically the same?
    A
There are only a few similarities between Bifen XTS and Talstar P. They both contain the same active ingredient Bifenthrin, treat over 75 types of insects, and both work as a repellent.  Bifen XTS is oil based meaning it is only to be used outside the home because it holds up better in the elements. Bifen XTS is water resistant and can withstand UV Rays for 4-8 weeks outside. Talstar P is water based meaning it can be used indoors and outdoors. Inside Talstar P is used as a crack and crevice treatment and will leave a 90 day residual. Outside the home TalstarP can be used as ant mound treatments, as a broadcast spray over the entire yard, or as a perimeter treatment up against the structure.
