The shelf life of Bifen XTS is 3-5 years provided it is stored at room temperature with no extreme heat or cold and no moisture gets in the bottle. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
Bifen XTS is labeled for both tent and webworm caterpillars. You will use 0.07-0.15 fl oz per 1000 square feet. This generally mixes in 1-2 gallons of water. This can be done every 21 days as needed.
Bifen XTS does have an “aromatic hydrocarbon odor” per the SDS that will dissipate once treated areas are dry. You should only mix what you can use within 24 hours and discard any left over. Do not store in a sprayer as this can damage the sprayer and the product starts to breakdown once mixed with water and would be ineffective.
Bifen XTS is not labeled for any type of lice. Martins Permethrin 10% would be a better option for poultry lice, used as directed on the product label.
Bifen XTS will treat roaches outside but we do not recommend that this product is used indoors or for sole treatment for this species of roaches. We recommend that you use our Roach Control Kit #2 for indoor treatment of german roaches. Please click on the link below for more information on treating german roaches.

Talstar P, Bifen IT or Bifen XTS are all great bifenthrin products that are labeled for eradicating chinch bugs. As long as they are applied according to the label, they will be effective for control. Bifen XTS has a larger percentage but is diluted differently than Talstar P or Bifen IT (both water based concentrates).
Bifen XTS is mixed at 0.07-0.15 fl oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft for treating crane flies.
For the treatment of wood destroying insects we would recommend Boracare instead because it is absorbed by the wood and will last the lifetime of the wood. It is recommended for Boracare to be applied to raw wood, but if it's not, you can inject it into the wood. Be sure to follow the label instructions for proper application. Once it's dry, you can then stain it within 6 weeks of the application, and it would be safe for eating afterwards.
Bifen XTS is not labeled for Squash bugs or for use on any edible plants. We do carry the Hi-Yield Indoor/Outdoor 10% Permethrin Insecticide that is labeled for squash bugs and will do great job controlling them when used as directed on the product label. This product will kill the adult stages.
Bifen XTS is unlikely to harm flowers if applied according to the label instructions but it is not really selective as far as what insects it controls, so there is a chance that it could harm or kill a butterfly if one were to come into contact with a treated surface.
Yes, Bifen XTS can be used on potted plants for fungus gnats. It is recommended that you use this product with a gallon pump sprayer. The mixing ratio is .004 -.02 fl oz. per gallon of water. Be sure to apply to the bottoms of the leaves as well. In two gallons of water, you will use .04 fl. oz.
No, Bifen XTS will not harm the seals on your sprayer. It can be used in all types of sprayers as it is mixed with water. Please let us know if we can assist you any further.
Bifen XTS is a good choice for either a broadcast application or for individual mound drenching for fire ants and other ants. Be sure to follow the application instructions on the product label. If you already see ants indoors, then we recommend our Indoor Ant Kit which contains baits to take out the entire colony.
