Bifen XTS is an outdoor oil based insecticide listed for surface applications to listed areas only for a monthly exterior residual for listed targeted species. We recommend treating only with a wood treatment product approved for dipping lumber.
Bifen XTS is highly toxic to aquatic life. Applications should be limited to areas that are at least 100 feet from the pond and that would not allow drift or runoff to get into the pond.
Bifen XTS is an oil based product so it is not recommended to treat directly on some plants. It could burn if applied in the heat or on sensitive species so we suggest applications around the perimeter so those plants are not injured further.
Bifen XTS is not labeled for use on peach trees. You can use a product that contains permethrin but it must be labeled for use on non bearing edible vegetation such as Tengard SFR. Unfortunately once the beetles have already infested the bark of a peach tree there are not any viable treatment options. In cases of infestation the general recommendation is to simply protect the surrounding trees with preventative sprays with a product labeled for such a use.
You should not consume any edibles that were treated with Bifen XTS. The fruits should be discarded.
Bifen XTS can be applied outdoors only. Bifen XTS is labeled for springtails and should do a great job for you outside. Bifen IT is labeled for interior crevice applications for springtails. Depending on how healthy the springtail is and how long it spends on a surface treated by the Bifen IT, will depend on how long it actually takes for each individual one to die. It could be hours or even a day. Also, if you are not treating the main nest, and only the satellite colony, you are only be temporarily fixing your problem. More will appear as they continue to migrate and you will need to fix the moisture issue in your home that is attracting the springtails as well. Until the moisture is gone or the main nest is found and eliminated, you will have an ongoing battle with the pest.
Bifen IT can be used inside and outside. Bifen XTS is oil based and can only be applied outdoors. Bifen IT can be used to kill clover mites and will leave a residual of up to 30 days outside. It will not repel them from the area but instead will continue to kill those that contact a treated surface after application. We have a guide here with more information on treating and preventing this pest. Pets need to be kept out of the area while products are being applied but can return once all surfaces are dry.
Bifen XTS is labeled for treating direct application to openings in the ground, bushes and cracks and crevices where bees, wasps, hornets, and yellow jackets are at rest or nest. Bifen XTS will also leave an oily residue in the areas that you spray, including your wood deck. If you are treating for carpenter bees, we would recommend to use the Carpenter Bee Control Kit.
Bifen XTS is not a true repellent that keep gnats away, but it will kill those gnats that come into contact with a treated surface long enough to receive a lethal dose.
No, Bifen XTS is not a restricted-use pesticide.
Bifen XTS is not microencapsulated.

Bifen XTS will have a residual of about 4-8 weeks depending on rain and UV rays in the given area. Talstar P has an outdoor residual of approximately 30 days depending on rain and UV rais in the given area.
The most important thing to remember when treating for mosquitoes is that they hang out on the underside of leaves and shrubs. You should treat all shrubs, bushes and trees, remembering to not only treat the main bush or shrub but also the underside of the leaves. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing water, so if there are any areas of standing water where you are treating, those should be treated as well with BTI Mosquito Dunks or Altosid Pro-G Mosquito Larvicide.

Either sprayer or mister application would be effective with either product as long as the application is thorough. Oil-based products such as Bifen XTS can stain some surfaces. This is not usually a concern in most areas outside, but you should use caution when treating around the siding of a home. Most oil-based products such as Bifen XTS do have a "chemical" odor but it is not especially strong.
