HOW DOES BONIDE BORIC ACID ROACH POWDER WORK?

Since Bonide Boric Acid Roach Powder is non-repellent roaches do not avoid it. When they get near it, the electro-static charged powder clings and is carted back to their nests.

  1. Shake bottle, lift spout, squeeze bottle to spray under appliances, sinks, furniture, around drains, along all sides of closet shelves, under shelf paper, on ledges, wherever roaches develop paths. Be sure to treat basements, attics and garages.
  2. Tap a line of powder in every drawer, around sides and backs of all cabinets and storage shelves. In cracks and crevices behind sinks and toilets. Also treat behind all office furniture and particularly in file drawers. One pound normally treats an average home of 2,000 square feet. New construction treatment in walls requires one pound for every 500 square feet.

For best results, Bonide Boric Acid Roach Powder should be used in every room of a building and applied in every place indicated.

How do you properly clean up boric acid?

I put down boric acid a few months ago. I still have roaches and want to clean it up, so i can spray. I purchased IGR and pecticide from your company to put down.

Boric acid dust can be vacuumed up and areas can be cleaned with soap and water to remove traces of the product.

Is this safe for pets

Bonide Boric Acid Roach Powder is a very safe product and also very effective.  Like any product you need to make sure you apply it as directed and read all instructions for it to work properly on insects and be safe for your family.  Bonide Boric Acid Roach Powder is meant to be applied in cracks and crevices, underneath appliances and inside wall voids.  If you apply it correctly and in these types of areas it will not be accessible for your pets and children to come in contact with but it will be in the places that bugs like to hide.  You do not have to remove the pets and children while you are treating, but it would be a good idea to have them in a different room while you are applying the dust.  After 30 minutes have passed after you have applied the product it is perfectly safe for them to be back in the room that you treated.

How long does one application work? It seems that the buggers are coming back again after one month.

An application of Bonide Boric Acid Roach Powder will typically last about 6 months as long as it hasn't gotten wet. However, you are most likely experiencing a resurgence of roach activity because you have not used a IGR (insect growth regulator). If you are seeing smaller, nymph roaches, then you are dealing with a subsequent generation of roaches. IGR's are chemicals such as hydroprene and methoprene, that disrupt and impede the life cycle of insects in the egg and larvae stage of development. The idea with an IGR is that if an insect cannot reach adulthood, it cannot reproduce. In short, IGR is a form of “birth control” for pests which helps keep the populations of unwanted pests under control by preventing current and future infestations. Gentrol Point Source would be a great option for you! Gentrol Point Source is a special Roach control device that contains hydroprene for 90-day control of roaches. Activating Gentrol Point Source is as simple as squeezing the raised end of the plastic, adhesive-back device. This releases Gentrol IGR onto a filter paper. From there, it moves up to 75 square feet, damaging adult roaches and preventing them from reproducing. Make sure to place these disk up high in the room so that the vapor has the ability to move throughout the room, as the vapor is heavier than air.

Can you use the Bonide Boric Acid Roach Powder in attics?

We live in TX and want to get rid of these waterbugs... we were told to start in the attic but I do not see anywhere if that is safe to do with our 100+ degree heat (so attic will be over 120+).. can we use in an attic or is there another product to use?

Yes the product can be used in cracks and crevices within in the attic. If you are having a problem with roaches (water bugs), you should look at treating more than just the attic, especially since the roaches are coming in from the outside.
