The hose end sprayer should have numbers on the side that correspond to the gallons. You fill the hose end sprayer with the product according the numbers on one side and the water to the appropriate gallon mark on the other.

Like most hose end and handheld sprayers, the Chapin 20 Gallon Hose End Sprayer will spray/mist up to 10 ft or so.
