    Q
Will Crossbow Herbicide kill overgrown cutover?
I have some land that was cutover. Will Crossbow kill most everything but grass? This land is scattered with pine, hardwood trees, brush, briers, private, holleys and all types of weeds. It is a typical south Alabama cutover I am trying to turn into pasture. I do not desire to kill the bahia grass or all the trees but need to thin it out so to speak, make it more manageable.
    A

Crossbow Herbicide is known to be a great product to kill brush and other unwanted woody plants. You should not spray if it is windy, and be careful that over spray does not get on the desirable trees. Crossbow Herbicide is not supposed to harm established grasses and should pose no threat…

    Q
When is the best time to spray Crossbow Herbicide?
I have 90 acres in CRP and is thick with Sumac, broadleaf weeds, etc. It is about four feet tall now. Should I wait til spring after it is bushhogged to spray to be more effective?
    A

Crossbow Herbicide is labeled to make a maximum of 2 applications per year on annual & perennial weeds, and once per year for woody plants.  However, if the Sumac is that thick, we would certainly wait until it is cut back completely and then apply the product to get the best results possible.

The tree is near the back fence and they sprayed a large area (per the labels instructions they say) 2 foot high x 15 ft weeded overgrowth and I fear it was absorbed by the root base. We gave it a good bath and washed down the root base soil area for a while. Help!!! We love our only 30 ft river birch tree!

    Q
Will Crossbow contaminate soil and poison vegetables? How long should I wait to plant a garden?
I am concerned about the spread as well. I dug up as much of a spreading tree as possible but I need to kill the roots. If I spray directly onto roots and around soil, How long must I wait to plant vegetables?
    A

Crossbow Herbicide will stay in the soil and could veggies for up to 2 years. It's possible you could use Tordon. We recommend to contact Dow 800-992-5994 option 4 the manufacturer of both products for the best one to suit your treatment.

  • Asked by J from Everett, Wa

    Q
Have been trying to kill salal for years. How long will it take to kill it completely?
The last bunch was cut down a month and a half ago and sprouts are coming up everywhere. Do I have to spray just the leaves or will spraying the visible wood work, too? The area is under an old cedar and fir trees. Is there something stronger I can use?
    A

Crossbow Herbicide appears to be an effective product on salal but it can take mulitple applications.  Best way is to either spray the foliage directly or cutting the stumps/sprouts and applying as a “cut stump” as directed on the product label.
