Diquat dibromide - 0.890%

Q

When using Esplande EZ, how long can you wait after application to water it in and still have effective pre-emergent weed control?

A

Per the product label for Esplanade EZ it states only under drought conditions it may be neccessary to water the product in. Otherwise it should not need to be done. Ideally if needed, it should be watered in within 7 days of application. This is the general standard with pre-emergents.

What is the mix rate for Esplanade EZ in a 3 gallon jug?

A

The mix rate for Esplanade EZ is 8 fl oz - 16 fl oz per gallon of water depending on the pest you are treating. So if you are using a 3 gallon sprayer, you will mix 24 fl oz - 48 fl oz total. Please refer to the product label for mix rate recommendations.

I have an injection spray unit and cant find the mixing info on label. Unit is set for 25 gallons of water per acre I'm not sure how to mix it?

What is the "re-entry" time after application of Esplanade EZ?

People and pets can re-enter the area where Esplanade EZ has been applied as soon as the area has thoroughly dried. This normally takes a couple of hours.

Esplanade EZ cannot be used in areas where water is present. Applications should be kept at least 25 feet away from water areas. Per the product label: To protect the environment, do not allow pesticide to enter or run off into storm drains, drainage ditches, gutters, or surface waters. Applying this product in calm weather when rain is not predicted for the next 24 hours will help to ensure that wind or rain does not blow or wash pesticide off the treatment area. This chemical has properties and characteristics associated with chemicals detected in groundwater. This chemical may leach into ground water if used in areas where soils are permeable, particularly where the water table is shallow. This pesticide may impact water quality due to runoff of rainwater. This is especially true for poorly draining soils and soils with shallow ground water. This product is classified as having a high potential for reaching surface water via runoff for several months or more after application

I have a sprayer calibrated at 30 gal of water per 1.25 acres how many oz of Esplanade EZ do I need per acre?

A

Esplanade EZ is mixed at the rate of 16 fl oz in 1 gallon of water per 1000 sqft per the product label. This would equal approx 5.4 gallons per acre, which is also the max rate you can apply per year on an acre.

Can I tank mix Esplanade EZ with Crossbow?

Most EPA-registered herbicides like Esplanade and Crossbow can safely be mixed together. We recommend that you read and follow the label instructions to prepare a tank mix test to make sure the products are compatible.

Unfortunately, the only way to reduce the effects of an herbicide such as Esplanade EZ would be to use an activated charcoal immediately after applying (within hours). You will mostly have to wait and see what happens since results will vary depending on the rate used and overall health of the turfgrass. As this product kills anything sprayed and can prevent new things growing in the area, you will most likely have to reseed/sod the area at a later time.
