    Q
Is Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate the stuff used by Billy the Exterminator to get rid of yellow jackets?
    A
We honestly do not know what brands of insecticide Billy the Exterminator uses. We do know that he uses pyrethrin based insecticides because they are more environmentally friendly. Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate is a pyrethrin based insecticide but it is not labeled for use on wasps. We recommend using something like Wasp Freeze. Wasp-freeze is specially formulated to provide instant knockdown of yellow jackets, wasps and hornets. Knockdown is quick so no stinging pheromone is released, thus reducing the possibility of stings. The Wasp Freeze can has a jet nozzle that will spray up to 15 ft away.

    Q
    Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate vs. ExciteR?
Any reason to use ExciteR over the Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate? Would like to keep it Organic.
    A
The Evergreen Pyrethrum insecticide contains only all natural products and is OMRI compliant. The Exciter contains a synthetic synergizing agent called Piperonyl Butoxide also known as PBO along with the natural pyrethrin insecticide and is not OMRI compliant. Evergreen Insecticide is the way to go if you need a product that will fit into an organic pest control program.

    Q
Can you mix Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate with neem oil?
and if so at what rate?
    A

It is possible to tank mix Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate with a neem oil as long as the other product label does not prohibit such mixing. We would not recommend mixing these two or any other two oils on plants that are under stress from drought, heat, or disease or in very hot temperatures to avoid the risk of phytotoxicity. The rate at which you dilute Evergreen will depend on your application equipment, target pest, and are of application. Please refer to the product label for complete rates and application instructions.

  • Asked by Eric from Rochester Ny

    Q
Will Evegreen Pyrethrum Concentrate kill deer ticks?
We're seeing them on our dog and on us even just for a walk in our backyard.
    A
Yes, Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate will kill Ticks. However, Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate does not provide long term protection, it is a contact kill only. This means that Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate must be sprayed on the tick directly in order for it to kill the tick. We would recommend our Tick Control Kit for better results. This kit contains 1 quart (32 oz.) bottle of Permethrin SFR 36.8% and 1 pint (16 oz.) bottle of Archer IGR. The Permethrin SFR provides knockdown and residual control of adult tick populations while the Archer IGR disrupts the life cycle of ticks by preventing immature stages from developing into adults.

    Q
Will this Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate work on aphids ?
green peach aphids or winged root aphids ?
    A

Yes, Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate is labeled for aphids. As long at the product comes in direct contact with the aphid it should work sufficiently. It is labeleld specifically for green peach aphids. However, root aphids may be a little harder to control, and will need to be at a point in their life cycle where they would come in direct contact with the product during the application.

    Q
what will be the best product for killing roaches. I have american and german roaces
we transported them from my aunts apt., when we stayed there for a couple months. I keep the houseclean and do the dishes every night but they are still around. I have used bait and the roach hotels for about a month now and need something better and stronger. I have three kids and three cats so something that is safe for them is my main concern. please help
    A
The Roach Control Kit #2 is perfect for roach control problems in homes and apartments. This professional kit includes 1 packet of Demon WP Insecticide (which makes 4 gallons of finished solution) for spraying the outside perimeter of the home and inside underneath appliances, behind cabinets, under toilets and sinks, etc. You'll also get 4 x 30 gram tubes of Advion Roach Bait Gel--one of the best roach baits on the market. Advion can be applied up high in the kitchen in the corner of cabinets and in cracks and crevices in kitchens and bathrooms. The bait contains a slow-acting poison that attracts and kills feeding roaches, who also spread the bait to other roaches by contact or by sharing food. Finally, 20 Gentrol Point Source stations provide an IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) that will stop roaches from laying eggs, helping to halt the infestation. The combination of an IGR with roach bait is a highly effective roach control strategy that is widely used by pest control professionals. Demon WP must be applied with a 1 gallon pump sprayer. Please also take a few minutes to read our article How to get rid of roaches as it contains many great tips that should help you get rid of the infestation.

    Q
will pyrethrum work on killing carpenter ants?
    A
Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate is labeled in general for ants. According to the label you
will mix 1/4 to 1/2 of a fluid ounce of Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate per gallon of water.
We recommend using Dominion 2L when treating for Carpenter Ants as a perimeter spray.
For carpenter ants, use 0.6 fl. oz. per gallon of water to treat around the perimeter of a structure, concentrating on areas where pests may enter the structure. If you are seeing activity inside and outside the home, we recommend using our Carpenter Ant Kit #2.

  • Asked by Margo from San Diego, Ca
    06/10/2013
    Q
    Will this work for fleas?
I need something for indoor and outdoor flea infestation. I also have white flies outside.. will this work and be safe for the pets to be around? (cats too)
    A
The Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate is ONLY a contact kill and will not provide any residual which is what you need for flea and whitefly control. If you are having a problem with whiteflies on a tree, you would want to use something like Dominion 2L. This product is one that only requires a tiny amount of product to work, and you would use it as a soil drench around the base of whatever tree or shrub the whiteflies are on as long as it is not a tree which produces food you plan to consume. The Dominion will be soaked up through the root system of the tree and treat the tree from the inside out to get rid of the whitefly and will stay in the tree for up to 1 year. For Flea Control outdoors you would want to use Talstar and NyGuard IGR. The Talstar is the liquid insecticide you would use to kill the adults and the NyGuard is the birth control that keeps the larvae from growing into reproducing adults as well as halting reproduction in the adults. The birth control is one of the biggest factors in control the fleas. Keep your grass very short and dry as this makes it harder for the fleas to thrive on your property. If you have pets make sure they are on a flea preventative to keep the number being brought into your home at a minimum. For inside the home use NyGuard Plus to spray down all floors, furniture, pet bedding and areas where the fleas are present. This is an aerosol so no mixing is needed and is easier for indoor applications and it has the birth control and insecticide built into the can together. Vaccuuming is going to be key indoors to control the fleas as well and you can review our article on How To Get Rid Of Fleas Indoors for further tips. All of these products are safe when used according to the label and you would simply keep pets and children out of the area you are treating until it has dried.

    Q
We have a maggot problem in our outdoor garbage cans
We tried Suspend SC but it doesn't seem to help
    A
First, you want to thoroughly clean the trash cans, and try and locate the source of the maggots. Next, you can apply Cy-Kick aerosol in and around the trash cans. Cy-Kick aerosol leaves a residual that keeps on killing for weeks.

    Q
Could this product be used in the home to kill "kissing bugs?"
CDC has noted that this type of insecticide has been proven effective in killing "kissing bugs" that carry the potentially deadly Chagas' disease. If this doesn't work or isn't safe, what else can I use?

I have a large apple tree, what is the best method to apply Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate?
    A
Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate is not labeled for use on apple trees. It is only labeled to be used on the harvested fruit. We do carry Bonide Fruit Tree Spray which is labeled to be used on apple trees. You can spray it on with a hand pump sprayer or if the tree is very large and a hand pump sprayer won't do, you can use the Chapin Slide Pump Sprayer. The brass pump develops pressure up to 150 psi and allows you to reach targets over 30 feet away. The Chapin Slide Pump Sprayer offers maximum portability and can be used in any container simply by dropping the weighted strainer into the solution and pumping with the slide pump.

  • Asked by Cody
    11/25/2019
    Q
Will Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate damage baseboards, wood floors, or carpets?
We are looking for an organic product to use on the interior of the home for general pest control. We shy away from using essential-oil based products like essentria because we worry that they will cause discoloration due to the oil components. Having said that, is Evergreen pyrethrum also heavily oil based? Will it cause any discoloration to baseboards, wood floors, or carpets?
    A

Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate is an oil-based concentrate that should not cause harm or cause discoloration to baseboards or carpeting when used at the correct labeled rates.  If there is any cause for concern, it’s recommended to spot treat an inconspicuous area first.  It should not be broadcast over carpeted areas or over hardwood flooring.  It should only be used around baseboards, doors and windows, and in cracks and crevices.
