Piperonyl butoxide, or PBO, is commonly used in pest control products as a synergist, meaning it helps improve the effectiveness of other insecticide active ingredients.  PBO is often paired with synthetic pyrethroids or pyrethrins to help the active ingredients work more effectively against the pests listed on the label.  While PBO is not usually used as a stand-alone insecticide treatment, it can help quickly knockdown pests, provide a flushing action, or improve overall performance.

You can find PBO containing professional pest control products in several different formulations, including aerosols, foggers, sprays, and liquid concentrates.  Depending upon the product label, these pesticides may be used in indoor sprays, outdoor treatments, space sprays, crack and crevice applications, livestock areas, kennels and other animal living quarters, or other labeled sites.  Application sites and treatment areas will vary by product. 

When selecting the best piperonyl butoxide PBO product for your pest control problem, consider the pest you are treating, areas where the product will be applied, and the method of application that best fits your needs.  Always read and follow the product label.
