    Q
What is the risk of secondary poisoning from Farnam Just One Bite II Bars - like for a fox or coyote if they came across the dead or dying rat?
I have used this product before, but I am now in a new location with much more wildlife - such as foxes, buzzards, hawks, etc. I do not want to kill anything other than the rats.
    A

The risk of secondary poisoning with Farnam Just One Bite II Bars is very minimal. A rodent only consumes a very small amount of bait at a time and passes it very quickly, only keeping a small amount in their system until they succumb to the effects of the bait. A larger animal such as a fox or coyote would have to actually eat 20-30 rodents that have consumed the bait to be affected by it.

    Q
I used the Farnam Bars before and were effective, but lately I still have a few lingering rodents. Suggestions?
I'm considering having a professional come and they use contrac blox- so don't they have the same ingredient basically? Oh and I have a fridge with a small leak as well, but they used to work well, but not right now. One professional stated if we feed them it only sustains them.
    A
Both the Farnam Bars and the Contrac Blox are great rodent baits, but they both have a slower kill time. It takes consuming a little more of the bait to get a lethal dose in their system, and death normally results within 2-5 days after the meal. The rodents could be reproducing at faster rates currently so you have a continuous cycle of rodents coming through, as one dies, another is born to come out shortly after. One way to try and eliminate the chances of more reproduction until they die, would be to swap to a bait like the Fastrac Blox. The kill time on this one is 1-2 days and they have to consume less of it to have a lethal dose. The fridge with the leak should have no effect on anything in your situation unless you are putting the bait where the water is getting on it and causing it to degrade or mold. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
Where can i find the Farnam Just One Bite Bars in Houston?
Is this the item that kills but you will not smell the dead rodent?
    A
We are unsure if there are places local to you that carry the Farnam Just One Bite Bars as this is a professional grade product and will normally only be found through specialized retailers like ourselves. We offer free shipping on all of our orders with no minimum quantity required and with the free shipping to Houston it normally takes 2-4 business days. As far as how the bait works, there is actually no such thing as a bait that will make the rodents not smell after they eat it and die from it. This an "old wives tale" that has been passed around for many years, but the fact is that if the rodent smells or doesn't is more dependent on where they die and the air flow of your home as to whether or not you will notice it.

  • Asked by Sabrina from Seattle, Wa

    Q
How to use Farnam Just One Bite II Bars around and in the car that is parked outside?
Rats or mice ate the wiring in my car that is parked outside. Its happened twice now. Someone suggested Farnam. Do you know how to use it? Please advise.
    A

Farnam Just One Bite II Bars is only labeled to for use in and around agricultural buildings, so we cannot advise on using in or around a car.  It is important that the property is addressed as a whole in order to reduce the number of rodents. Tamper resistant rodent bait stations loaded with bait such as Fastrac Blox will help reduce the level of rodents on the property to a more manageable level. These products can be purchased together in our Protecta Sidekick Kit. To protect individual vehicles you may want to consider using rat snap traps or mice snap traps (depending on which you have) beneath the vehicle and resting on the vehicle tires overnight.
