    Q
Can Hi-Yield Atrazine Weed Killer kill bahia grass and not harm my St. Augustine?
    A

Since Hi-Yield Atrazine Weed Killer is not labeled as safe for use on bahia grass, it may suppress it. The most popular treatment for this would be to spot treat the bahia with a glyphosate product such as RoundUp QuikPro and then maintain the health of the St. Augustine so that it will fill in the bare spots.

  • Asked by David from Gilmer, Texas
    08/13/2017
    Q
What can I use to kill crabgrass that is safe to use on centipede grass?
    A

As you probably know, Centipedegrass is a very sensitive species of turf so many products that eliminate the crabgrass and other weeds can also cause damage to your lawn. Hi Yield Atrazine is safe to be used on Centipede and it will suppress Crabgrass but may not completely eliminate it. It will also control a large variety of other broadleaf weeds. Tenacity is a great pre and post emergent herbicide that will control crabgrass along with many other types of weeds without harming your centipede lawn. Make sure to read the Tenacity label very carefully and mix exactly what is recommended as this is a strong product and mis-using it can cause temporary turf injury. When applying tenacity it is highly recommended to use a temporary turf colorant like Turf Mark Blue to allow you to see where you are spraying. Overlapping your application of Tenacity can cause temporary whitening of the lawn as well, but the color will return in 3-4 weeks at most.

  • Asked by Adam from Fairview, Pa

    Q
Can I use Atrazine on Kentucky Bluegrass?
I want to kill Poa Annua and thought KBG would not be harmed if Hi-Yield Atrazine Weed Killer is safe on St. Augustine lawns.
    A
Atrazine is not labeled for use on Kentucky Blue Grass so we cannot recommend you use it for this type of application. Most products that are labeled for poa annua cannot be used on KBG. We recommend that you spot treat the poa annua using a non-selective herbicide such as Killz All Grass and Weed Killer. Your best option for poa annua is to use a pre-emergent herbicide in the Fall such as Hi-Yield Turf & Ornamental Weed & Grass Stopper with Dimension. It will prevent the poa annua seed from germinating into weeds. It will not kill existing weeds and it is safe to use on KBG. Apply the granules and water in after application. Repeat treatment in Spring to prevent other grassy and broad-leaf weeds in your yard.

  • Asked by Justin from Suwanee, Ga
    01/08/2016
    Q
Can I apply Hi-Yield Atrazine Weed Killer on dormant Bermudagrass?
The UGA extenstion states: "Atrazine is labeled for centipedegrass, zoysiagrass, St. Augustinegrass and bermudagrass. Atrazine can be applied to actively growing and dormant centipedegrass or St. Augustinegrass but bermudagrass can be injured if treated while actively growing. " So, can it be used to control actively growing annual bluegrass on a dormant Bermuda grass lawn?
    A

Hi-Yield Atrazine Weed Killer is not labeled to be used on bermudagrass at all so we cannot recommend it for this use.  We have to go by what is stated on the product label.  Drive XLR8 would be a good product to use for annual bluegrass in bermuda.
