    Q
Will Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester kill English Ivy in my lawn?
    A

Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester is not specifically labeled for English Ivy. For cool season turfgrasses, Bonide Poison Ivy and Brush Killer BK-32 Concentrate can be used to treat English Ivy at the rate of 4 fl oz per gallon of water per 1000 sq ft.

Due to the waxy coating on the leaf surfaces, direct application to the leaves with a paintbrush may work best. Applications should be made during warmer temps when the ivy is actively growing or if new sprouts or growth occurs.

Can Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester be used on to kill bermudagrass in my zoysia lawn without injuring the zoysia?
    A

Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester cannot be used on Zoysia as it is for cool season turfgrasses only.

    Q
Will Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester kill invasive liriope aka monkey grass?
I mistakenly planted invasive liriope, ala monkey grass in my mulch bed. I tried killing it last year, I dug out as much as I could, and sprayed with roundup pro, also brush & ivy killer. It would kill some of it, then more would grow back. I am not concerned about protecting any nearby plants or grass, I need products, and timing to apply that will permanently kill this invasive grass.
    A

The Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester is not labeled to treat for Monkey Grass.

For monkey grass, we would recommend spot treating with a glyphosate product such as Gly Pho-Sel Pro 41% with a surfactant.

    Q
When should I apply Triclopyr ester to control wild violets?
Last summer I applied triclopyr ester to kill wild violets. It appeared to do the job and I completely re-seeded my lawn after the violets were dead. Later on, the violets began to re-appear. This year, I want to apply the triclopyr ester again and re-seed as appropriate. When can I apply the triclopyr ester and how can I ensure that it completely kills the violets? Thank you
    A

The best time to treat wild violet is typically in spring when they are young and first begining to flower as they are more sensitive to selective herbicides. Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester can be applied anytime weeds are actively growing and for wild violets, it will take multiple repeat applications to get some control.

To prevent weeds from germinating, a pre emergent is going to be your best option as the Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester is only going to kill actively growing weeds and will not prevent new weeds from germinating.

Unfortunately, there is not a pre emergent specifically labeled to prevent wild violet but applying pre emergents in early spring and late fall will help the overall health of your lawn and help reduce weed growth during the warmer months.

    Q
Can Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester be used on zoysiagrass to kill creeping charlie (ground ivy)?
Also last year I had a brown fungus any recommendation for that on zoysia lawn
    A

Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester is not safe to use on zoysia turfgrass as this is for cool season turfgrasses only.

Fertilome Weed Out Lawn Weed Killer with Trimec herbicide is labeled to control creeping charlie and other broadleaf weeds and safe for zoysia turf.

Refer to the Rate chart on page 7 of the product label and take a moment to review our Creeping Charlie Treatment Guide for more information.

Regarding possible disease, there are many factors such as poor drainage, overwatering, and under- or over-fertilization that could contribute to disease development in the lawn. You can apply a fungicide preventatively when conditions are favorable. A combination product such as Pillar G is a great choice if you are not exactly sure what disease may be most prominent.

    Q
How much Triclopyr Ester per 1000 sq ft do I add to my tank with Pylex Herbicide for bermudagrass control?
For bermudagrass control, the label for Pylex states for "control of these species requires a tank mix with triclopyr ester at 32 fl ozs/A" so if I am applying Pylex at the rate of "0.023 to 0.030 fl oz/1000 sq ft (0.7 to 0.9 mL) on a 3 to 4 week spray interval, how much Triclopyr Ester do I add? 32 fl ozs/A is equal to 30ml/1000 sq ft?
    A

Bermudagrass is extrememly difficult to eliminate completely and even advised on the product label may take multiple years/seasons to control depending on the level of bermudagrass you are trying to eradicate.

The recommended rate of Triclopyr Ester at 32 fl oz/per acre is equal to 0.73 fl oz per 1000 sq ft. A MSO (Methylated Seed Oil Surfactant) is also recommended in the tank mix with Pylex at the rate of 0.16 to 0.48 fl oz per gallon of water.

For selective control of bermudagrass in cool season turfgrass, the Pylex Herbicide offers 2 treatment plans on page 10 of the product label:

Option 1: Make 3 applications at 3 week intervals of Pylex at 1.3 fl oz/acre (0.023 fl oz/1000 sq ft) + MSO Surfactant at 0.16 to 0.48 fl oz/gallon of water + Triclopyr Ester at 0.73 fl oz/1000 sq ft.

    OR

Option 2: Make 2 applications at 3 to 4 week intervals of Pylex at (0.03 fl oz/1000 sq ft) + 0.16 to 0.48 fl oz/gallon of water + Triclopyr Ester 0.73 fl oz/1000 sq ft with a follow up application 3 weeks later of Pylex at 1 fl oz/acre (0.02 fl oz/1000 sq ft) with 0.16 to 0.48 fl oz/gallon of water MSO and Tricolpyr at 0.73 fl oz/1000 sq ft
