1. Push the meter probe vertically in the moistened soil to a depth of 4 - 5 inches.
2. Twist the probe between your fingers several times to ensure that wet soil is well distributed over the surface of the probe.
3. If the reading is in the green zones: Remove the probe from the soil and wipe any soil particles from the surface of the probe. Reshine the probe and insert back into the soil at a different point. Twist the probe 2 or 3 times, as before, and wait 60 seconds before taking the final reading.
4. If the reading is in the orange or red zones: Remove the probe from the soil and wipe any soil particles from the surface of the probe. Do not reshine the probe. Insert the probe back into the soil at a different point. Twist the probe 2 or 3 times, as before, and wait 60 seconds before taking the final reading.

You will remove 2" of the surface soil and break it up and crumble the soul underneath to a depth of 5". Remove any stones or organic debris. Thoroughly wet the soul with water (rain water is best) to mud consistency. You will use the cleaning pad that is supplied on the tester. Push the meter into the wet soil vertically 4"-5" in depth. Twist the probe between your fingers several times to ensure the wet soul is well distributed over the surface of the probe. The soil will either be in the green or red/orange zones. QWhen reading PH on the Luster Leaf Rapitest Mini pH Tester 1815, what is the reading when needle is at the black line between 6 & 7? 6.5 or 7?I see that the PH values are located above the color scale bar between the black lines. Does this mean that each black vertical line is 4, 5, 6, 7, 8? For example, is the black line between 5 and 6 indicating a PH of 6 and then values between 6 and 7 between the lines (yellow)?
