You should not spray products like Martins IG Regulator or Viper Insecticide on top of boric acid powder or any other dust. You will want to keep sprays and dusts, granules, or baits in separate areas so that you do not interfere with the dust. A boric acid dust or bait would not be effective if it has been sprayed with an insecticide. If you are treating for roaches, then be sure to keeps spray low and bait high. We have more tips in ourRoach Treatment Guide here .
Yes, Martins IGR is safe if applied according to the instructions on the product label. People and pets should be kept out of the area while the product is being applied, but it is fine for them to return when the product has dried. It is best to make sure that it does not get wet within 24 hours after application.
Viper is not labeled to control bed bugs so would not be recommended. Martins I.G. Regulator does not actually kill anything; it is also not labeled for bed bugs. We normally recommend that you use one of our Bed Bug Control Kits to ensure that you have all of the necessary products for a complete treatment. Which kit you choose depends on the number of rooms that need to be treated. You may also want to look over our Bed Bug Treatment Guide for more information on how to treat for this pest.
According to the SDS for Martins I.G. Regulator in most conditions, no respiratory protection should be needed; however, if handling without sufficient ventilation, use NIOSH approved air-purifying respirator with any R, P or HE filter.
Martins I.G. Regulator can be applied to the seams and folds of mattresses.
Martins I.G. Regulator is not labeled for drain flies. We recommend using Gentrol Aerosol to aid in treating drain flies. We like it because it comes with an applicator straw that eases application to hard to reach areas in and around sinks, toilets, etc. However, drain flies breed in organic "gunk" that is down the drain. You need something to put down the drain that will eat this gunk away or it will continue to be a problem. This is where drain gel comes in. We have a Drain Fly Kit just for your situation. Drain gel poured down the drain every night for about a week will eat away at the "gunk" and eliminate the source of the problem. So this does not happen again, you should use drain gel once a month for maintenance on your drains so the "gunk" does not build up again.
Martins IGR is labeled for fleas. We would recommend using Conquer Insecticide as well. These two products are mixed together with water. You will use 1 oz. of each product in 1 gallon of water every 14 days until the fleas are gone. Please take a look at our Flea Control Guide for more information on treating and preventing fleas.
The amount of product that you will need to use per 1 oz. of Martins IGR will depend on what insecticide you are using. You should be able to locate the mix rate on the product label. We can also better assist if we know what the product is. Yes, be sure to keep pets out of treated area until dry and also treat pets with a flea control product like Frontline. You can find more information in our Flea Control Guide.
We have had several customers tell us that they have successfully used Onslaught and NyGuard IGR together for bird mite control. Unfortunately, because neither product is actually labeled for bird mites, we cannot give you a definitive answer on what IGR would be best for them.
Martins IGR is labeled for fleas but will only prevent them from reproducing. We recommend that you also use an adulticide such as Onslaught as well for complete elimination of fleas. You may want to look over our Flea Control Guide for more information and tips on treating and preventing fleas.
Martins IGR can be applied into cracks and crevices on a wood or laminate flooring.
Martins IGR is not an adulticide and does not actually kill insects. It does interrupt certain young insects from being able to reach sexual maturity in order to prevent them from reproducing, though this does not include wasps. Please take a moment to read over our wasp control guide to learn what products and methods would best meet your needs.
We have not heard about any reactions like the one described above. As long as the Martins I.G. Regulator and Onslaught Insecticide treated area was allowed to dry (and the product was applied as directed) there should not be a concern of harm to your dog. That being said we would recommend contacting your vet or poison control if your dog is showing signs of illness.
Yes, you can mix Martins IGR with an insecticide like Cyzmic CS for flea control in your yard. You can mix and spray both products at the same time.
Per the Martins IGR label, you will prepare a diluted spray solution by adding 1 ounce per gallon of water.
Yes, Martins I.G. Regulator can be used with Martin’s Viper to control fleas. Please take a look at our Flea Control Guide for more information on treating and preventing fleas.
We do recommend using an adulticide with the Martins IGR, however, it can be used alone. It will take longer to get rid of the fleas since this product is just an insect growth regulator. We would recommend using Diatomaceous Earth instead of Boric Acid since that is mainly for roaches and other crawling insects. Also, we would recommend vacuuming daily in between treatments. You may want to consider using a gentle contact kill for adult fleas such as Wondercide Flea and Tick Pets and Home, which does not have restrictions on pets or people in the area at the time of use.
