Martins Viper Insecticide should dry clear when used as directed on the product label. That being said it does contain petroleum distillates so can leave an oily sheen behind. For mud daubers it is best to apply to surfaces where they nest and contact. If you are able to see a hole where they come and go from it would be best to treat with a dust such as Tempo 1% which would be easier for them to pick up.
