Maxforce FC Ant Bait Stations are typically used when you start seeing activity of ants in the home, to provide them with a food source to take back to the rest of the colony. However many customers prefer to leave the stations out all the time, or place them around before activity is noticed for the season to have them ready for any that may find their way in. Ideally you would want to use a residual spray around the foundation of the home on the outside to help prevent any ants from ever making their way in the home. A product like Temprid FX would be great for that application and is safe for use indoors along baseboards and crevices as well if needed, and provides a slight transfer effect through the colony by touch, similar to the way the ant bait is transferred.
The Maxforce FC Ant Bait Stations are ready to use as is. You will simply place them near where you see ant activity, being careful not to forcefully interrupt trails. If you do not currently see ant trails, good places to apply these are near potential entranc points like near a window sill, door frame, or under a sink.
