Merit 0.5 G Insectcide Granules are the longest lasting broad-spectrum grub control product on the market. Both curative and preventative, Merit Granules holds a ten-year record of 90% effectiveness on virtually every species of turf and ornamental pests. Merit even improves the quality of your turf. Merit 0.5 G is for broadcast application on and around turfgrass, ornamentals, trees, shrubs, flowers, groundcovers, and in and around commercial or residential buildings. Apply Merit 0.5 G uniformly over area being treated with normally used granular application equipment. Both drop-type and rotary-type spreaders may be used. Avoid using a spreader which would apply the product in narrow bands. For optimum control, product application should be followed by mechanical incorporation, irrigation, or rainfall, to help move the active ingredient into the soil.
MERIT is most effective when applied prior to, or just after, egg lay. In most cases, adult emergence occurs in early summer, often after significant rainfall or irrigation, followed by mating and egg laying. This usually continues for four to six weeks. Under normal circumstances, Merit will provide residual white grub control for four months or longer in turf.

Grub control that works
By Jim on 04/04/2011
I have spent hundreds of dollars on different grub control products each year with the same result: grubs. Last year I discovered the 0.5 G Merit and thought that the extra strength might get it done. After years of frustration, this product worked as advertised.

This stuff works
By Doug on 09/09/2012
I've been fighting with white grubs destroying my marathon 2 lawn for several years and had tried several products before, but they barely slowed down the spread. After one application of the Merit Granules the spread of the dead areas has ceased and visible recovery has begun. If you have white grubs, this stuff works.

best product ever
By David on 09/18/2010
last year i awoke to find my yard over run by crows. During the day i would run outside and chase them away but they would return within the hour. The crows were destorying my lawn. So i called a professional lawn service and they promise to treat and end the problem. The day after the lawn was sprayed the crows continued tearing up my lawn. Even after a month later. At that point i searched the internet and found a product called" crowbegone". A cd with strange bird calls but after a month of use it to was a failure. The crows had won so i thought. Thats when i came across your wed site and purchase Merit G. In two words "It Works ". After chasing away the crows i applied Merit G and watered it in real good that evening. Within the first week i observed fewer crows on my lawn. By the second week the crows would land on the lawn and walk around looking for their grub meal but the kitchen was closed. After a month only one or two crows would check out the lawn and then walk away. Problem solved. Now my lawn is beautiful again. THANKS.

In North Carolina, temps have been in the teens & I am battling moles in my hybrid Bermuda despite years of milky spore & grubex applications. When can I apply this product or Dylox my Bermuda buddies say now but isn’t it too cold?
We recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office to ask about the treatment timing of Merit 0.5 G Insecticide Granules for the pests in your region. These offices are an invaluable resource when dealing with pests and most have a master gardener and an entomologist on staff to answer pest insect questions
Merit 0.5 G Insecticide Granules are not labeled to treat scale. You can use Fruit Tree and Vegetable Systemic Soil Drench along with a foliar spray like the Ultra-Pure Oil Horticultural Insecticide, Miticide, and Fungicide.

Merit 0.5 G Insecticide Granules is not labeled for control of armyworms but if you are using it for any other insects on that label you can apply it at any time. There is no waiting period for these 2 applications. If you need a product for army worms that has residual you can consider using Acelepryn.
Can this be combined with fertilizer or Fungus Control products? Assuming the fertilizer or Fungus Control being used does not have restrictions.
It is not recommended to apply and insecticide such as Merit 0.5 G Insecticide Granules with a fungicide, it is recommended to apply them about 1 week apart from each other.
As long as the two products of Merit and your fertilizer do not have competing labels for watering in and timing of application you should be able to apply both granule products together to the yard with no problem. Be sure to follow the most restrictive product label of the two items. Please let us know if you have any questions!
Merit 0.5 G Insecticide Granules would not interfere with seeding or cause any issues for the seed.
The Beatles are digging down into the dirt as well as eating my plants. I would like to eliminate them. Also, I will use this on my lawn. But for the small area of the potted plant, I was not sure how much should be applied.
Merit 0.5 G Insecticide Granules are intended for applications to turfgrass and selective landscaped areas only per the product label instructions. It does not list applications to containerized/potted plants.
Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control is labeled to be used to containerize plants, roses, houseplants, and flowers. Please refer to page 5 of the product label for Application Rates for Rose Plants and for Containerized Plants by gallon size.
Merit 0.5 G Insecticide Granules will last in the soil anywhere from about 30 - 90 days depending on the rate used and how much rainfall you receive. If you have very sandy soil and get a lot of rainfall, then we recommend applying at a lower rate more often rather than applying the highest rate at one time.
Yes, you can apply Merit 0.5 G Insecticide Granules and fertilizer at the same time.

Is Merit harmful to hummingbirds? I am plagued by aphids on my crepe myrtle and other flowering plants susceptible to aphids and other similar insects.
As long as you follow the application instructions, you will not harm the wild life directly or indirectly by treating with Merit Granules. The active ingredient Imidicloprid has shown to have a low level of toxicity birds. We recommend applying when they are not in the area.
Treating for grubs can often vary from region to region and can change with the weather you have each season. It is best to apply your grub control products in mid-June to mid-July, before the grubs hatch. The eggs hatch in the fall, and grubs feed on turf in fall, overwinter underground, and then feed again in the spring. You will see damage during both of these seasons. For more specific timing for your area we would recommend contacting your local county extension office. We also have a treatment guide with more helpful information on grub control.
