Mouse Repellent

If you live in an area prone to mice or have had past mouse problems, mouse repellent is a smart option to avoid future infestations. Homes, offices, and other structures can stay rodent free thanks to repellents. Mice avoid the scent of the repellents and therefore the property where the repellents are being used.

How To Repel Mice

Mouse repellents are not difficult to use, but there are steps you can take to make using the mice repellent product successfully. The main use of repellents is to flush the mice out of the non-living areas they harbor in. Repellents help to drive mice into baited areas or mousetraps, or to encourage mice to vacate the building all together. Repellents help to change the target animal’s behavior, whether that is avoiding damage or keeping them out of your car or storage, and we can help you learn how to keep mice away by following these tips:

  • Begin using repellents as soon as you notice a problem. Ideally, you should use repellent products preemptively to avoid any damage or mouse problems, but the sooner the better.
  • Follow all instructions on the mice repellent label. Even if the product is all natural or organic, there may still be safety precautions to take when applying the mouse repellent.
  • Reapply or replace the mouse repellents as often as the instruction label allows, and make sure to use the maximum amount as well. The repellent product needs to remain fresh and potent in order to be as effective as possible.
  • Don’t limit yourself when using these mouse deterrent products; many can be applied or placed nearly anywhere, including outbuildings, sheds, cars, under decks or patios, storage areas, attics, barns, and anywhere mice could be come a potential problem.
  • Some products can also be used on certain items to avoid damage from rodents, like on cables, electrical wires, etc.
  • Eventually the mice will probably become used to the repellent and understand that the repellent product will not actually harm them, and go about their business. Switching the type of repellent you use on a regular basis can also help prolong the use of repellents.
  • Remember that repellents alone will not completely get rid of your mice problem. Using other mouse control tactics, like exclusion, and products, such as traps, in conjunction with repellents, can help you on your way to mouse control success.
