Anna from Tomah, Wisconsin writes

My husband and I sprayed a 15% solution on our log siding over the weekend and it dripped and hardened overnig

Last weekend, we pressure-washed, hand-scraped, and washed the siding in a TSP and bleach solution. This was what we thought to be the last step before staining.

Answer:

Did you pressure wash and scrape the wood after you applied Tim-Bor? If so, you may have removed much or all of your Timbor treatment. Tim-bor should be applied until the surfaces are wet but not to the point of runoff, and it absorbs about ¼ inch into the wood. If you are treating wood that is exterior wood or wood used for decoration or furnishing that will be stained or painted, then it would best to use Boracare to treat the wood before finishing it. Boracare is the liquid version of Timbor, it absorbs more thoroughly into the wood, and it dries clear and smooth when applied correctly.
