Pennington Bermudagrass Grass Seed is a variety of cold-tolerant, self-spreading warm-season grass that is great for colder areas. Using the MYCO Advantage and Penkote technologies, the product grows in low and thick, making for less grass clippings when mowing the lawn, and the grass is more wear-resistant and cold, disease, and drought-tolerant than other types of grass seed. The product needs 8+ hours of sunlight to grow optimally and goes dormant during the winter months, turning brown, but it comes out of that dormancy during the spring months. For instructions on how to lay down new seed, overseeding, or improving bare spots, see the application box below.

Application |
New seed - Till the soil to a depth of 4 to 6 inches. Make sure your soil has the proper nutrients for the grass by conducting a soil test. If you are unable to do a soil test or nutrients are lacking, apply lawn fertilizer and lime according to the rates on the packaging. Work the additives into the soil, then rake the soil smooth to give the product an ideal bed to establish roots in. Sow 2 lb of seed per 1000 sq. ft. of the product into the soil by spreading it at a recommended rate, then working the seed an 1/8" deep into the soil. Overseeding/Improving bare spots - Conduct a soil test, then apply fertilizer and lime if necessary. Then mow the existing turf as closely as practical, remove the grass clippings, and aerate the dirt where there is already grass, as this will permit the product to make contact with the soil. Sow 1 lb of seed per 1000 sq. ft. of the target area, then gently rake to evenly spread the seeds out. With either method, keep the seed well watered until they start to germinate and have grown enough to be established, then water as necessary. If there is unwanted grass on your property that you want to replace, spray the target turf with a non-selective lawn herbicide, then follow the new seed procedure listed above. |
