    Q
Does Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) get rid of existing crabgrass?
    A

Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is a pre-emergent so it will only stop future crabgrass seeds from germinating (timing is key in your area). If you are looking for something to kill existing crabgrass then you will need a post-emergent. Keep in mind that it may be too late to apply for a post due to the tiller stage of the crabgrass. The higher the tiller stage, the more difficult it is to control.

    Q
How long after spraying Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is it safe for pets to reenter the area?
    A

People and pets should be removed from the area when applying Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade).  Once the treated area has completely dried, it is then safe for people and pets to re-enter that area.  Generally this could be between 4-6 hours, but it will depend on various factors.

    Q
Will this product kill sand burrs?
    A

Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is not labeled for sandbur, and we cannot guarantee any results for this weed using this product. It is only a pre-emergent, used to prevent weeds from emerging. It will not kill anything that is actively growing.  Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension is a very popular pre-emergent herbicide for sandbur. Be sure to check the product label to be sure it is safe to use on your turfgrass. If you are trying to kill existing sandbur, you can browse our post-emergent herbicides for this weed here.

  • Asked by Todd from Illinois

    Q
Will Prodiamine 65 WDG also work to control weeds in a gravel driveway?
    A

The best and longest-lasting pre-emergent herbicide to use around areas like a gravel driveway where you do not want any plants to grow would be a vegetation management product like Martin's TVC Total Vegetation Management. This product will prevent any plant growth in those areas for up to 1 year. Just be sure not to apply in a way that would run off or contact the roots of desirable plants/turf since this product last for so long. If you have existing weeds in the gravel areas, then you can use RoundUp QuikPro to spot-treat and kill any existing plants.

    Q
What's the difference between this and Prodiamine 4L Herbicide?
They appear to be the same product in different concentrations. Am I missing something?
    A

Both Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) & Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) are prodiamine-based pre-emergents. They are made by different manufacturers. It is not uncommon for each manufacturer to have their own version of a pre-emergent with the same active ingredients.

  • Asked by E from Claremore, Ok
    08/22/2017
    Q
Can I overseed in the fall and the spring with fescue when I use Prodiamine 65 WDG?
    A

Normally if you choose to use a pre-emergent you cannot seed within several months of the application. Per the Prodiamine Product Label: To reduce the potential to injure overseeded turf, wait 60 days after seeding or until after the second mowing, whichever is longer, before applying Quali-Pro Prodiamine 65 WDG.

When to Overseed After Application (All States)* Quali-Pro Prodiamine 65 WDG will inhibit the development of turfgrass species overseeded too soon after application. Follow rates and intervals in the table below for best overseeding/reseeding results

When used at the lowest rates, it starts at 4 months after application that you can overseed.

    Q
Can Prodiamine 65 WDG be mixed with Battleship III?
Attempting to control winter weeds and existing broadleaf weeds in Bermuda grass.
    A

Yes, that should be fine to mix your pre-emergent like Prodiamine with a post-emergent like Battleship. Just be sure that you are using the correct rates for your turfgrass and for the area that you are treating, and that the pre-emergent is activated within 14 days of application. You may want to do a small jar test for compatability if it is your first time mixing these two products together.

  • Asked by Travis from Westminster, Md

    Q
Can you use Trimec 992, Prodiamine WDG 65, and Quicksilver in the same treatment?
    A

It would be best to make separate application for the Trimec 992, Prodiamine 65 WDG and the Quicksilver.  Generally you don't want to mix pre- and post-emergent products as it can change their formulations.  You could however do a jar mix of the Trimec 992 and the Quicksilver and see if they emulsify and could be sprayed together since they are both post emergents.

    Q
Do you have Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) in granule form?
I have 8000 sq feet of tifted bermuda
    A

Prodiamine 65 WDG is a water-dispersible granule which you dilute with water and then apply as a spray. You would use 0.36 – 0.83 oz per 1,000 sq ft when treating Bermuda. All the regular granule products we sell which contain Prodiamine also have a fertilizer. You can browse those products here.

  • Asked by Stephanie from Wilmington, De

    Q
Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) works great on stiltgrass, but not nimbleweed. What is the best herbicide to control nimbleweed?
    A

Tenacity is the best post emergent for Nimbleweed control in Zoysia lawns. You will use 1/2 tsp of product and a Non Ionic Surfactant. Nimbleweed can be difficult to control though so multiple applications may be needed.

  • Asked by Bob
    01/06/2019
    Q
What is the correct dilution rate for Prodiamine 65 WDG?
    A

The first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Prodiamine 65 WDG is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to use 0.185-0.55 oz per 1,000 sq ft . To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 0.185-.55 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated
