This Rain Wizard Diverter Kit is beneficial in using with your downspout. It eliminates the need to cut the bottom half of your downspout - it adds flexibility in usage. Without this diverter, the rain barrel has limited areas to be placed at. With the included connector hose, there is a wide option range that a rain barrel can be placed. This is a great investment piece because if you need to remove the rain barrel, you just simply remove the hose and the downspout is back to it's original state. No replacement of the downspout is needed. Great for the environment by the help of conserving water.

A simple plastic diverter can make all the difference in the world. Without one, you must completely remove the lower half of your downspout and you have a very limited space where a rain barrel can be used. The Rain Wizard rain barrel diverter adds flexibility to your rain barrel setup by solving these problems. The included connector hose allows the user to place their barrel within a wide radius of the downspout, making the best use of landscape location. The diverter also keeps your downspout at its original total length by simply connecting in-line. This way, if the user decides to relocate their barrel, they can simply disconnect the hose, and the downspout doesn't have to be replaced. Best of all, this diverter, when used with a sealed barrel, can handle all overflow and channel it back through the downspout*. Works with all 2 x 3 inch downspouts.

*Note, barrels must be sealed to use the automatic overflow feature. Screened or open-top barrels will not have this feature unless they are resealed.

Can the Rain Wizard Diverter Kit hooked to a garden hose?
instead of using a barrel I want to lay a hose across my lawn for drainage ... will this work?

No, a regular garden hose cannot be used on the Rain Wizard Diverter Kit.
