    Q
Does Shockwave work against bed bugs?
    A

It is not recommended to fog a house for bed bugs with Shockwave or any other product.  Studies show that fogging for bed bugs can make a problem worse and make them spread out more.  Also, bed bugs have shows signs of being resistant to pyrethrin products and since most fogging solutions are made with pyrethrin in them, most do not work and do not provide enough kill ratio.  We recommend using one of our bed bug kits which contain the same types of products that professional companies and are proven to work under current bed bug strains. The kits have a very high success rate and come with full instructions on how to apply the products properly.

    Q
What is the best product for spider mites that can be used in a thermal fogging machine?
    A

We would not recommend fogging for spider mites and we do not have a product labeled to do so. We recommend that you select a product that is specifically labeled for spider mites for the area you need to treat and on the plants you need to treat.  Please see our article on Spider Mite Control for more information.

    Q
Does Shockwave have a scent? If so, how quickly does it dissipate?
    A
Shockwave does have a slight odor when first dispensed, but it does dissipate quickly.  If you are using Shockwave indoors as a fog than of course you need to vacate the premises for at least 3 hours after fogging.  If you are using Shockwave outside in a misting system of fogger, then you can re-enter the area much sooner.

  • Asked by Jim from Chandler, Texas
    02/20/2024
    Q
Can I expect good results controlling spiders and mosquitoes around boathouse using Shockwave Fogging Concentrate?
Also, what is the oil for the mixing and where can I get it?
    A
Shockwave Fogging Concentrate is not labeled for use around boats/docks/boathouses as it is highly toxic to aquatic invertabrates.  Around water you are limited to natural options.  EcoVia EC would be a better option and can be use on a sprayer, backpack sprayer or mist blower, power sprayer, mechanical aerosol misting/fogging equipment, (ULV or thermal), automated spray systems or other conventional application equipment.

  • Asked by Scott from Cape Coral
    06/17/2021
    Q
Could Shockwave Fogging Concentrate be used near my horses, cows, and chickens?
Or would they need to be separated from sprayed areas? I'd like to fog the entire farm all at once.
    A

Shockwave Fogging Concentrate is not labeled to be used around barns or livestock at all, so this application is not recommended.  Pyranha Bug Armor would be a better choice for the area and is widely used.

As long as you keep animals/children out of the area while you treat and until the product has had time to completely dry or settle it is safe for pets and people to return and resume normal activity, typically after a few hours.

Where on Shockwave Fogging Concentrate label does it tell you what mask canisters to use?

The Combo Classic would be one you could use that is approved.

  • Asked by Cathryn from Kansas City, Mo
    08/14/2013
    Q
Has there been any success using Shockwave fogging to kill bird mites
Currently battling bird mites in the home. I've tried a cedarcide product in a ULV fogger with little success in getting rid of the bird mites. How good would this product be?
    A

We honestly have not had any feedback from anyone using Shockwave for birdmite control. Below you will see our recommendations for birdmite control:

For treatment in the home we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use MotherEarth Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of MotherEarth dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. MotherEarth dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust. Onslaught can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs.We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

  • Asked by Gary from Denton, Tx
    08/29/2013
    Q
    Will Shockwave kill birdmites?
    A
Shockwave will kill spider mites, but only the ones that come in contact with it. We recommend using a product that has a residual like Onslaught Insecticide. Onslaught Liquid Insecticide is micro-encapsulated, meaning that after the product is sprayed, the active ingredient is released slowly over time, producing long-lasting residual control of insect pests. Also, please review our Bird Mite Control page.

  • Asked by Trevor from Pflugerville, Tx
    06/27/2014
    Q
Is there a long-term product for a propane fogger?
Many of the responses refer customers to products like Talstar to control pests where a residual or long-term effect is desired. Talstar is not recommended for propane foggers. Is there a product available for propane foggers with a residual/long-term effect especially for mosquitos?
    A
Foggers are mainly used to provide quick initial knockdown. After you will apply a residual like talstar depending on what you are treating. Shockwave can be used in a ULV or Thermal fogger and also provides a residual.

  • Asked by Gary from Hannibal Mo
    04/20/2014
    Q
Can I use Shockwave in a propane fogger and if so do you sell the mineral oil?
Trying to find a good fogger chemical for the yard for ticks. Will this work for that and also work on small trees with aphids? I found another web sight that said not to use on lawns.
    A
Shockwave can be used in a thermal or propane fogger.  This product may be used in homes or businesses, indoors or outdoors around structures, in ULV foggers and mosquito misting systems but you are correct is not labeled for use a broadcast across turf, only for spot treamtents around structures.  If ticks are in the area when you fog and they are touched by the fog, they will die but fogging does not have a long term residual, so it really only kills what it touches when it is wet.  For 30 day control of ticks, mosquitoes and other insects, we would recommend Talstar.
