No, Talstar P is an insecticide that does a great job killing insects, but it will not kill mice.

Yes, Talstar P can be used for fire ant control in the type of sprayer you described, but you will also need to do mound drenching. According to the Talstar P product label, "Fire Ant Mound control is optimized by combining broadcast applications that will control foraging workers and newly mated fly-in queens with mound drenches that will control existing colonies. If the soil is not moist, then it is important to irrigate before application or use a high volume application. Apply broadcast treatments at 0.5 to 1 fluid oz. per 1,000 square feet. Use enough finished volume to penetrate thatch or sod. Treat mounds by applying 1 oz of Talstar P per mound in 1 to 2 gallons water by sprinkling the mound until it is wet and treat 3 feet out around the mound. Use the higher volume for mounds larger than 12”. Treat mounds with sufficient force to break their apex and allow the insecticide solution to flow into the ant tunnels. For best results, apply in cool weather (65 - 80F) or in early morning or late evening hours."

Ground bees, also known as digger bees, can be very difficult to control no matter what product you use and they most likely will come back to your property year after year unless you do your part to alter your property to make it unfavorable to the bees. Ground bees prefer dry soils with thin grasses so irrigating the area frequently and correcting any issue that causes your grass to be thin will help deter the bees from nesting. In areas where you do not have grass, a layer of mulch will help deter the bees from nesting. Ground bees are solitary bees and are not very aggressive and are known to be a beneficial insect which is why you will not find any products specifically labeled for this type of bee. Talstar P can help provide some level of control but it will not get rid of all of the ground bees on your property. You should use Talstar P at a 1 oz of product to 1 gallon of water for a 1,000 sq ft area ratio. This will give you the fastest knockdown and the longest lasting residual. Talstar P does not offer an instant knockdown but will kill insects that come into contact with treated areas over a short period of time.

It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf eating pests. Talstar is also available in a granule formula called Talstar PL if you prefer to use granules.

Our Complete Ant Kit is perfect for sugar ants, or argentine ants which is what their real name is.  The ants will eat the products in the Complete Ant Kit and take them back to wherever their colony is and feed the bait to the queen and all of the other colony members.  Usually within 5 - 10 days the entire colony will be eliminated.  The ant gel is for placement inside the home or car, and the granules are meant for outside around the home.  However, since our kit comes with bait plate stations, you can place both the gel and the granules in the bait plate stations so the ants inside the car have a choice when feeding.

Use a 0.06% dilution of Talstar P (1 fluid oz. per gallon of water) for bedbug control. A thorough application should be made to crack and crevices where evidence of bed bugs occurs. This includes bed frames, box springs, inside empty dressers and clothes closets and carpet edges,high and low wall moldings and wallpaper edges. Do not use this product on bed linens, pillows, mattresses or clothes. Remove all clothes and other articles from dressers or clothes closets before application. Allow all treated areas to thoroughly dry before use. Not recommended for use as sole protection against bedbugs. If evidence of bedbugs is found in/on mattresses, use products approved for this use such as Bedlam aerosol and Protect-A-Bed mattress, boxspring and pillow encasements

Talstar P can be used to kill carpenter ants that are sprayed directly or which contact the residual spray. However, Talstar P will not transfer throughout an ant colony to kill the entire colony. If you are finding carpenter ants trailing indoors, then we recommend our Indoor Carpenter Ant Kit, which includes two different baits, refillable bait stations, and a residual spray with two active ingredients. If the ants are in a wall void and you are unable to bait for them, then another great option is applying a ready-to-use non-repellent foam such as FUSE Foam into the wall void where the nest is. Talstar P should not be applied to edible vegetation. If any are treated, they should be discarded. We recommend that you contact the manufacturer (FMC) for additional safety concerns of the product. They can be reached at 800-321-1362.

Talstar P does not work as a systemic insecticide, it's used as a topical spray and it can be applied to ornamental foliage. Talstar P can be used as a mound drench for ant control, please follow the product's label instructions.

You should only apply surfactants and spreader stickers with Talstar P for exterior applications only.

Ant bait products are the best solution for effective argentine ant control and small black ant control. Ant baits will hit the colony at the source, whereas insecticide sprays such as Talstar P will only cause stress on the colony, causing it to split into a larger number of sub-colonies, making the infestation worse. We would recommend using our Complete Ant Kit which comes with both a sugar based bait as well as a protein based bait to ensure bait acceptance regardless of what the ants are lacking nutritionally. Since Talstar is mixed using 1 ounce per gallon water, you would add 100 ounces or 3 quarts into 100 gallons water.

To get a faster initial knockdown when applying Talstar you can add a synergist like ExciteR or Exponent to kill insects on contact during application or you can use either alone.  The residual of Talstar will be left behind, but once the synergist dries will be gone.

Talstar P will offer some control if applied to the trees, bushes and grass a few days before the wedding to lower the gnat population in the area. The morning of the wedding you may want to try to use a pyrethrin based product such as Riptide in a mist blower over the whole area which will kill anything that is flying around and help repel the gnats from the area for several hours.

As long as the area is dried after Talstar application, it is safe for pets to re-enter. Rain will not "reactivate" the product. 

The application usage rate that you noted in your question is correct for mosquito control. Most folks do not treat the entire acre but instead choose to treat in the areas where the mosquitoes will actually make contact with a treated area. The key is to apply it to all shrubs, trees, and other foliage around the house or where you are trying to provide relief.  It should be directed not only on top of the leaves and plants, but on the underside of the leaves as well which is where the mosquitoes hang out during the heat of the day.  Talstar should be applied every 30 days for optimum control.

No, Talstar P (Talstar One) cannot be sprayed as a broadcast on carpet, it is strictly a crack and crevice application along baseboards, under cabinets, behind appliances, around windows, doors, etc. Please let us know what pest you are targeting so that we can make a specific recommendation for you.
