    Q
What is the best product to use to kill or atleast repell Asian tiger mosquitoes?
We don't have any still water in the backyard, we keep it as clean as we can but still getting tiger mosquito bites all day long and at night too. Please help. Thank you.
    A

We recommend using Talstar P to treat those types of mosquito's. You can apply Talstar P inside, outside in your lawn around trees shrubs and ornamentals. Please be sure to treat the undersides of leaves on trees and shrubs, and leave debris as these areas attract mosquito's.

    Q
Can I apply Talstar after Conserve treatment for gypsy moth caterpillars?
My landscaper applied "Conserve" to kill gypsy moth caterpillars but my tree expert told me that Talstar is better, can Talstar be applied after Conserve? I know that they work by different mechanisms.
    A

Conserve SC is a great product for treating caterpillars since it is a targeted application and is very gentle on the plants and on other non-target insects and animals. If you are going to do a follow up treatment using Talstar, then I would wait at least 1-2 weeks so that you are not wasting the Conserve application since you don’t need both products at the same time.

No, Talstar P (Talstar One) is not labeled to be applied to furniture and it should not apply it to children's toys. If you would like to tell us more about what pest(s) you are targeting, then we would be happy to recommend an alternative treatment.

So I don't have a problem, just want to manage pests and save money. Live in Roseville CA in a subdivision. Looking for how and where to start. Would like to start with the best chance of success possible.

Our most popular general use product is called Talstar.  It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water in a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  It will last for 60 to 90 days outside in between treatments.  It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf eating pests. Talstar is also available in a granule formula called Talstar PL if you prefer to use granules.

We have a great article for doing your own pest control too: Do It Yourself Quarterly Pest Control

    Q
Can you use Talstar P then follow up using raid roach spray?
How long will it take to get rid of all these roaches my house is beyond infested with roaches they are in my microwave, stove in the table cracks ever where!!!!
    A

We would not recommend applying a product on top of the treated areas with Talstar P. It offers a residual control and takes time for eradication. Raid is more of a contact spray. We recommend that you take a few moments to read our article on eliminating roaches for more helpful tips. We also carry professional Roach Control Kits are effective in treating this insect.

    Q
Trying to get rid of several kinds of spiders, some quite large, in a studio warehouse type commercial bldg.
We have used Home Defense from Home Depot and other products purchased at the hardware store, but they don't work very well...maybe not at all.
    A
Talstar P would be great choice to spray outside and inside the building for the treatment of spiders (all species) and over 75 other insects. It is to be applied indoor cracks and crevices every three months and outside monthly. We would also sugges placing glue boards at entry points and areas with high activity.

    Q
Need to control a few large american roaches finding their way into the home
I believe our problem started about 3 years ago when I discovered a hole in the lid of my septic tank. The tank had become infested with the large brown (i believe american) roaches. Occasionally we would find one in the house. This year my septic tank was pumped and repaired and I don't see anymore roaches in there. But I believe they may still be in the ground around the septic tank and still finding their way into our house. I can't find how they're getting in, but one thought would be to kill the outside colony. Is this possible? What products should I use? Whenever I spray my normal outside insectiside heavily in the area, it seems better for a little while, but not permanently. I do see several holes in the ground about quarter size that makes me think it could be their ground access.

How to Control American Roaches / Palmetto Bugs

American Roaches come from the outside of the home, so it is best to spray a liquid insecticide around the outside foundation of the home such as Talstar One or Cynoff WP, rather than using roach baits. Also focus on sealing up cracks around doors and in the foundation so roaches can't get in.

    1. Repair damage to screens, door frames, or exterior siding that may provide entry from outside.
    2. Repair any leaks or excess water floor near the structure and ventilate other moist spaces. American cockroaches are highly attracted to water.
    3. Remove rotting leaves, garbage cans, or compost piles as far from the structure as possible.
    4. Use a residual spray such as Talstar One or Cynoff WP outside around all points of possible entry including windows and door frames, dryer vents, and pipe openings. Use the same residual indoors along baseboards and framed entry points.
    5. For added protection, apply Talstar Granules outside around the base of the house as a perimeter treatment.

    Q
Is Talstar P (Talstar One) safe to use in an area with a septic tank?
    A
Talstar P can be safely applied in areas around a septic tank with no problem when used as directed on the product label.  This product binds to soil and does not move through it so it would not leech into the system.

What is the best application method for Talstar P and NyGuard?
I have over a acre of property with a lot of grass and foliage. I have a 20v backpack sprayer which takes a while to do yard completely. Can I use a Stihl SR 200 backpack blower/mister? Which would be a more effective method of dispersing?
    A

Yes, you can disperse Talstar P and NyGuard IGR in a backpack sprayer and/or a mist blower. You will mix 1 oz of Talstar P to 3ml of NyGuard IGR per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft.

    Q
Can you use gas powered fogger with this product
    A
Talstar is not designed to be fogged so if you have a thermal/propane fogger you would need a product like Shockwave. If you are using a gas powered mister/blower like our Solo 451, then Talstar would be an excellent option and can be used in this type of unit.

    Q
3 months ago I treated for whitefly on ficus hedges. I have just treated them again but they are infested still
    A
If you are using a systemic product to treat it can take up to 8 weeks for the product to be translocated throughout the plant.  We recommend while that is working and if you have an active infestation that you spray the foiliage with something like Talstar P that will start killing after applied.  It is important to spray the underside of the leaves on infested plants for effective control. Heavily infested leaves should be plucked off the plant and tossed in a bucket of soapy water.
