    Q
Why can't I spray Taurus SC more than 2 times a year?
    A

Per EPA Regulations, Taurus SC cannot be applied more than 2 times a year at a rate of 0.8 oz per gallon of water or 4 times a year at a rate of 0.4 oz per gallon of water. Per the supplemental label, in California only the rate of 4 times/calendar year is approved and spraying only 6 inches up on the foundation and 6 inches out from the foundation.

    Q
Are termiticides such as Taurus harmful to toads and frogs?
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide would not harm toads and frogs in general when used as directed.  You may notice a decline of them in the area if you are killing off their food source with it.  Of course we would not recommend spraying them directly.

  • Asked by George from 34952

    Q
Can Taurus SC be used without trenching?
I live in a manufactured home with no foundation.
    A

If you want to use Taurus SC for termite protection, then the product has to be used in the soil where the termites are, not just sprayed on the surface like you would do for ants. If you have piers under your home, then you would trench around those piers with the same rate and trench as if you were treating around the foundation of a structure. You can read more in our Termite Prevention Guide here.

    Q
There is a hornet nest outside my window. If i spray with Taurus how long roughly will it take for them to start dying off?
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide can take a few days up to a week to kill a nest completely.  It all depends on how long they spend on the treated area, how much contact they then have with others and how large the nest is.

  • Asked by John from Converse, Tx
    09/30/2019
    Q
Can Taurus SC be used to treat a tree stump that has a colony of drywood termites?
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide is not labeled for application to tree stumps.  A better option would be Dominion 2L.  You can drill into the stump and then inject Dominion 2L into the stump where the termites activity is using a hand pump sprayer. You can also choose to trench around the stump and apply the product to the trench. Dominion will help to eliminate the colony below ground as well as those in the stump.

  • Asked by Brenda from Citra Fl
    10/11/2019
    Q
How much Taurus SC Termiticide should I use per gallon for fleas?
    A

Taurus SC is not labeled for fleas. Fleas tend to live in moist shady areas out in the yard where pets or other animals spend a lot of time resting. Taurus SC, however, is only labeled to be used in very limited areas on or immediately next to the house or structure making it mostly ineffective for flea treatments. We recommend you use our Outdoor Flea & Tick Kit to get rid of fleas around your home. You should use a topical flea product that is labeled for use on animals such as Petcor if you are trying to also rid your pets of fleas.

  • Asked by Harold from Portal, Arizona
    10/15/2019
    Q
How can I tell if I have termites in my straw bale walls?
I live in a straw bale house in rural Arizona. The floor and base of the walls are concrete, while the walls are made of straw bales held in by wooden beams with chicken wire and stucco on the outside. I found two small termite tubes at floor level on the inside of one of the walls. I broke the tubes open but could see no termites. I applied Termidor foam to the open tubes two days ago and the tubes have not been repaired. I don't know how the termites got inside. There are plenty outside, in the scrub, but no evidence of them on the exterior of the house. How can I tell if they are in the wall? Would you advise me to drill holes? I found a small tube on the outside wall, on the other side of the house, a couple of years ago, and treated it with Termidor foam. Seems to have worked. Thanks, Harold 520-558-1125
    A

A straw bale home is a very unique build so it may be hard to tell if termites are coming up through the bales themselves to access the wood that supports the bales in place. Subterranean termites need to be prevented by doing a full termite trench treatment around the outside perimeter of the home. Any subterranean termites that pass through the treated soil as they try to make their way up into the home would be eliminated. The Taurus SC is what we recommend doing the trenching treatment with as its one of the longest lasting (will protect the home at least 10 years). If there are any cracks in the concrete floor that would allow the termites to enter from an area other than around the sides of the home, you would have to drill and spot treat in those areas as needed. There isnt a way without ripping walls open to see if there are already some termites present in the bales, but there isnt anything about the bales that would be condusive to them thriving. Spot treating with the Termidor Foam where you see tubes appear is fine to do, and likely if you find them empty that means the colony didnt find what it was looking for and moved on. You can see at the link below how to do the full termite treatment but please let us know if you have any other questions

    Q
It rained 20 hours after I finished treatment with Taurus SC. Do I need to reapply?
    A

Typically we recommend 24 hours of no rain after applying Taurus SC Termiticide but as long as it was not a heavy rain and the soil was displaced it should have been fine after 20 hours.

  • Asked by Ben from Washington, Nc

    Q
Should I treat inside the crawl space under the house with Taurus SC?
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide would only be applied in a trench along the inside wall of a crawl space if you are treating for an active infestation of termites.  Otherwise you would just apply the trench around the pillar/columns.

    Q
How fast does Taurus SC go bad if not sealed properly?
I opened a 78 oz bottle a 4 months ago and used a few ounces. I found the bottle leaking air out when I pressed it from the small cap. Should I assume that the product went bad since it wasn't air tight?
    A

Taurus SC and similar products do not need to be airtight once opened. We recommend that you always store insecticides in an area that is out of direct sunlight and extreme temperatures (do not allow to freeze), and you should get a shelf life of 3-5 years.

  • Asked by Anne from Ramona, Ca
    11/06/2019
    Q
Will Taurus SC Termiticide kill earwigs?
    A

Yes, Taurus SC Termiticide is labeled to control European earwigs. Please keep in mind that this product is only labeled for outdoor use around the perimeter of a structure. Talstar P would be a great choice for earwigs. You can spray both indoors and outdoors with this product. It is one of our best sellers, has a long residual, is odorless, dries clear, leaves no stains, is non-irritating to the skin, and won't break down easily with rainfall. Also, be sure to focus on mulched areas, or areas that hold moisture in the lawn.

    Q
We live in Washington, so we get a lot of rain. Will Taurus SC Termiticide still work?
I'm concerned if we treat the perimeter of our house for odorous house ants, the rain will wash the spray away.
    A

It is best not to apply Taurus SC if it is going to rain the same day. If possible it should be applied at least 24 hours before you are expecting any rain. As long as the product is applied on a non-windy day and at least 24 hours before rain, it will not wash away.
