Taurus SC Termiticide is the generic of Termidor SC so will have the same 10 years or more residual when applied in a trench. For a garage, you would be drilling along the inside walls of the garage by the foundation if there is an interior room on the other side. Directions for drilling (with a hammer drill) are to use a 18 in long drill bit that is 1/2in or 3/8 in wide and drilling holes 10-12in apart. You pour 1/2 gallon into each hole for the same rate as trenching 4 gallons over 10 lineal feet.
In this type of area, you would need to apply the Taurus by rodding. The holes should be about 12 inches apart. You would distribute 4 gallons of finished solution evenly throughout the 10 linear ft of holes. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions.
Taurus SC Termiticide can be used as long as the well casing is at least 5 to 10 feet away from the area getting treated/trenched.
Taurus SC Termiticide when used as a general surface spray around the foundation of the structure, rather than as a termite treatment, will only hold up to the outdoor elements about 30-90 days much like most insecticides on the market. UV rays, rain, and other environmental factors will break the product down on the surface over time. You could potentially get a 2 month residual out of each application, but it all depends on the outdoor elements in that time frame. Often, customers see the effects of a transfer insecticide like Taurus for longer than its actually still present on the surface, as it can eliminate large insect colonies that will take longer to build back up to a level you need to spray for again. You can also do a combo of two applications at 0.4 oz per gallon each time, and a single application at 0.8 oz per gallon if you wanted, as well as the options you mentioned. Ideally you would want to use Taurus for an active pest problem since it has the delayed kill and transfer effect most beneficial in those scenarios. If you are doing general insect prevention, an insecticide that kills faster and allows for more uses per year and more usage areas in and around the home would be a better choice. There are many options for this, such as Temprid FX, which will still provide some transfer effect for colony pests like ants and roaches, but will provide a faster kill on other insects in the area and create more of a preventative barrier.
Taurus SC Termiticide cannot be applied inside unless you are directly spot treating an active nest of ants in the wood they are infesting. It is not just sprayed around areas for general control inside. Inside you can use a product Phantom Aerosol in cracks and crevices which will work like Taurus with a transfer effect and being non repellent, but safe for inside use as directed on the label.
Taurus SC Termiticide should be applied in a trench around the pads and any other foundation where the soil touches.
Taurus SC Termiticide does not have labeling for use on gravel driveways, sidewalks or around trees. It is only to be used around the foundation of a structure. As an alternative you could use Dominion 2L around your trees.
Taurus SC Termiticide cannot be used indoors at all. It is an exterior use product up against the exterior foundation for termites (in the soil) and topically for ants etc. We recommend PT Alpine Flea and Bedbug Aerosol for inside for flea eradications along with vacuuming daily (discarding bag/empty canister outside away from home). You want two applications two weeks apart minimum for flea treatments. You will spray once every two weeks after until the fleas are fully eradicated. Please take a few moments to review our article for additional pro tips.
Taurus SC Termiticide is not labeled for mosquitoes and cannot be used out in the yard or on plants where you need to treat for mosquitoes so would not be tank mixed with Talstar P.
Yes, Taurus SC can be used to control ants outdoors. Be sure to follow the application instructions on the product label.
Taurus SC can only be applied within one foot of a structure and cannot be broadcast, so it is not the best choice for treating grubs or any insects that moles might be feeding on. A better choice would be something like Dominion 2L.
Taurus SC Termiticide should NOT be applied to trees, lawns, etc. It is strictly labeled for applications against the structure topically for crawling insects and in the soil for termite treatments. We normally recommend using soemthing like Bifen IT to treat for pests such as webworms.
Taurus SC Termiticide should be applied when you are not expecting any rainfall for at least 24hrs following the application. It should not be applied within 15 feet of bodies of water per the product label.
Taurus SC Termiticide cannot be used to just spray woods for termites and there really isn’t much you can do for them there. They are natures recyclers so should be left alone in that area. We would recommend trenching around your home with the product so that it is protected. We have a step by step guide that will walk you through how to do your own termite trenching treatment. You can see the guide by clicking on the link here.
Taurus SC Termiticide should not be applied away from the structure or within 15-20 ft from an edible tree. It is labeled for foundation applications as directed. Please provide the insect species for an alternate recommendation that will fit your needs.
Taurus SC Termiticide is not labeled for indoor general pest control. You can find our roach control products here.
No, Taurus SC will not be a substitute for monthly treatments. When you trench around the perimeter of your home for a termite treatment, that treatment will last up to 10 years and will work with termites because they don't travel above the soil. You may do quarterly treatments with Taurus SC at a rate of 0.4 oz per gallon of water, 1-2 feet up on the foundation and 1-2 feet out on the ground. Otherwise, you can continue to treat with Demand CS. If you've continually used Demand CS, once you've run out, you can rotate to something like Onslaught FastCap.
Taurus SC Termiticide is not labeled for scale or to be used on plants. Safari 20SG is a great choice for treating cycad scale on a sago palm.
If you are needing to treat preventatively for termites, you need to treat around the perimeter of the structure creating a continuous barrier, as you're planning to using Taurus SC. Treating the shared wall could only be done by drilling through the bottom concrete floor to treat the soil underneath, or perhaps treating the wood in the wall void between the parts of the structure by foaming Timbor or Boracare. This is a pretty invasive treatment, but it could be done if absolutely necessary.
