Taurus SC is not labeled for fleas, nor is it allowed to be used anywhere fleas would be an issue. It cannot be sprayed indoors at all, and it cannot be sprayed beyond 2 feet of the structures foundation. It would be more harmful to use this outside of its label than it would be to use two different chemicals on the same property for two different purposes. Talstar P is a very widely used insecticide for lawn treatments of fleas, ticks, and similar insects and can be applied monthly if needed to the lawn. Pets need to be out of the direct treatment area while application is being made, and until all the surfaces have dried. This is usually around 2 hours or so after spraying.
You should not use Taurus SC Termiticide indoors on surfaces, including in attics. It's labeled for use as a general pest spray and termite treatment on the outside of a structure's foundation and only for active infestations directly in wood if used inside as directed on the product label.
You would not want the soil to be overly muddy or saturated at the time of application. If heavy rains have come through, give some time for the soil to dry out to some degree, but it does not have to be fully dry. You can then apply the Taurus and it will bond to the soil over the next 6-8 hours after application.
Taurus SC can be sprayed 1 ft up and 1 ft out directly up against the foundation of the structure for general pests and will not damage any surfaces.
Taurus SC is a non repellent so is not detected by insects and would not make them go inside when applied outside. We suggest taking a look at our Indoor Ant Kit and following the steps in our Ant Control Guide here.
We would recommend waiting at least 30 days to apply Taurus SC Termiticide in an area you have applied an esfenvalerate product. Taurus would be a better option if social insects like ants and roaches are a concern but only sprayed outside for general pests. You can use the esfenvalerate product inside for additional protection with Taurus outside.
In order to use Taurus SC Termiticide on a house with piers, you want to trench around piers and apply in drilled holes in any concrete around the structure.
Taurus SC is labeled for carpenter bees but is limited in where it can be applied and would not be sprayed across the top surface at all. For prevention and/or control please take a look at the Label on how to apply on decks.
Taurus SC Termiticide can only be applied right up against a structure and not broadcast over a large area as directed on the product label. We are unable to provide a rate for or advise on off label usage.
Yes, in order to have a complete preventative barrier, trenching is necessary and so is treating the backfill with your solution of Taurus SC. If you do not treat the trenched area, you risk leaving gaps that are not treated where termites could pass through and not be affected by the chemical. Please review our Subterranean Termite Treatment Guide for further tips and information that may fit your needs.
Yes, the soil where Taurus SC Termiticide was applied for a termite trench treatment gets displaced due to gutters not being on the house, this could definitely lead to a lesser efficacy.
For outdoor control of ants and other perimeter pests, mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply using a hand-pump sprayer around the outside of the home, spraying 1 foot up the side of the house and 1 foot out from the house, all the way around the home. Also spray around any exterior openings where pests may enter such as doors (don't spray near door handles), windows, pipes, cracks, vents, holes, etc. Exterior perimeter spray applications will provide a 6 month residual against ants and other crawling insects. For Subterranean Termites,
Taurus SC Termiticide is applied by a trench treatment method where you are digging a 6 in x 6 in trench directly against the exterior perimeter foundation (to include any support pillars/piers under the home). This method will eliminate an existing Sub Termite colony within 90-120 days and last for 10 years in the soil to protect against future termites.
Dig the 6 in x 6 in trench directly against the foundation, pour 4 gallons of mixed solution (0.8 fl oz per gallon of water) every 10 linear feet of trench around the foundation. When backfilling the trench, spray the dirt with 1 gallon of mixed solution (0.8 fl oz per gallon) every 10 linear feet of the top soil.
Please view our Termite Treatment Guide for additional information including how to continue the trenching/drilling method across concrete driveways, sidewalks, patios or inside walls of attached garage.
Taurus SC Termiticide should have a shelf life of 3 to 5 years, if stored in a temperature stable environment and away from any direct sunlight.
Taurus SC Termiticide is able to be shipped to Michigan. It is only restricted to MA, MN, NY, SC, CT, IN, and VT.
Taurus SC Termiticide is a non repellent insecticide which allows the carpenter ants to cross the treated areas undetected and transfer the active ingredient fipronil throughout the colony. Non repellents are not fast acting or knockdown insecticides however have the best transfer effect with social insects like Carpenter Ants.
Keep in mind, it can take up to 90 days to see full results from using Taurus, especially if the colony is large. You cannot reapply Taurus after only 2 weeks from the initial treatment. Depending on what usage rate you used, you likely will need to wait 6 months before using it again.

As long as you keep pets/children out of the area while you treat with Taurus SC Termiticide and until the product has had time to completely dry or settle it is safe for pets and people to return and resume normal activity. Typically after 4-6 hours outside.
