    Q
Can Taurus SC Termiticide be safely used around the perimeter of the home if we have 2 house cats that go outside often?
    A

As long as you keep pets/children out of the area while you treat with Taurus SC Termiticide and until the product has had time to completely dry or settle it is safe for pets and people to return and resume normal activity.  Typically after 4-6 hours outside.

    Q
Does Taurus SC come with a product information sticker that can be filled out and placed inside a service panel?
    If not, what is recommended?
    A

No, Taurus SC Termiticide does NOT come with a product information sticker to be completed and posted for record.

At this time, we only carry Rodent Baiting Service Record Stickers however we were able to do a search online and find many options for blank pest control service record templates available for download and print.

    Q
How long will Taurus SC Termiticide last in the trap area behind the tub?
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide can only be used indoors for direct spot treatments where active termites have been located and will leave a residual of 6 to 8 weeks. This is not to be used indoors for termite prevention or general indoor pest control.

When applied as Subterranean Trench Treatment around the exterior perimeter foundation, it can eliminate an active Subterranean Termite colony within 90-120 days and last for up to 10 years in the soil for prevention.

    Q
Fine overspray on vegetables an issue with Taurus SC Termiticide?
I was doing a perimeter application and didn't notice until I was nearly done that there was some very fine overspray that may have reached my vegetable garden. Is this an issue? Do I need to discard anything that may have got this overspray (literally couldn't see the overspray until it was drifting in the sunlight).
    A
Taurus SC states to not use the product within one foot of the drip line of edible plants.

Anything edible that came in contact with Taurus SC Termiticide needs to be disposed of and nothing eaten from the sprayed plants for at least the season.

Please contact contact the manufacturer, Control Solutions for further advice. Their phone number is (630) 806-7062.

    Q
If I don't have gutters on my roof, will excess rain hitting the area where I've trenched using Taurus SC make it less effective?
    A

Yes, the soil where Taurus SC Termiticide was applied for a termite trench treatment gets displaced due to gutters not being on the house, this could definitely lead to a lesser efficacy.

    Q
Can Taurus SC Termiticide be applied in a trench that is more than 6 inches away from the house?
There is a pvc pipe underground that runs right next to the house where I need to do the trenching and apply the solution. Should I trench further away (more than 6 inches from the house) past the pipes or is it ok to trench right above the pipes?
    A

No, per the product label, you cannot trench more than 6 inches away from the foundation. If the pvc pipe that runs right next to the home, is a french drain, and is within or right below the 6 inches being dug for the trench, the best method will be to do a backfill treatment with Taurus SC. The backfill method instructs you to trench and place the soil that was removed onto a tarp, pour 1 gallon of diluted solution per 1 cubic ft of soil, mix thoroughly, return soil to trench.

    Q
How can Taurus SC Termiticide be applied for a trench treatment around the house if there is a thin layer of gravel/concrete?
I need to know what is the best way to apply through concrete and when dealing with the gravel layer.
    A

The trench treatment for Subterranean Termites with termiticides such as Taurus SC requires direct soil contact in order to bond to the soil and provide the 10 year barrier protection.

If this gravel is serching for french drain purposes, you would not be able to trench and treat along that side of the home at all, or within 2 feet (24 inches) of the french drain in general. For french drains refer to page 5 of the product label for details.

    Q
Can Taurus SC Termiticide be sprayed into existing holes in my foundation walls from a previous commercial treatment?
Holes are spaced every 10 inches on the exterior perimeter foundation. Can I spray this termiticide into these holes and achieve a 10 year preventative timeframe vs using the outside trench method?
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide can be applied to those previously drilled holes however since this will not make continuous direct soil contact, the trench method would be required to achieve the 10 year barrier protection against Subterranean Termites.

    Q
Can Taurus SC Termiticide be used inside the foundation of a crawl space with dirt floors?
    A

When using Taurus SC Termiticide for a Subterranean Termite Treatment, you will need to dig the 6 in x 6 in trench directly against the exterior perimeter foundation of the home to include the same 6 in x 6 in trench around any/all post or cinder block support columns that touch the dirt areas within the crawl space.

    Q
Will the active ingredient in Taurus SC Termiticide work as a pre/post emergent for weeds in the soil and emerged weeds?
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide is a termiticide insecticide that targets termites and other listed insects on the label, but is not any herbicide and should not be applied to your lawn.

    Q
Do I have to trench when I'm applying Taurus SC with a gas powered sprayer?
    A

When spraying Taurus SC for general pests you would use any sprayer to apply but only 1-2 feet up the foundation and out on the ground.  You trench only when using for subterranean termite prevention.  We have a step by step guide that will walk you through how to do your own termite trenching treatment.

    Q
On the Taurus SC Termiticide product label, what is meant by "Do not make applications on any date between November 1 and February 28"
Does it mean a cold weather will negatively impact the application? Is there a temperature range limit for the product to be used?
    A

That info is stated on the product label and on our website specifically referring to the State of California. The verbiage on the product label is only under the California State Use Restrictions.

Taurus SC Termiticide has different rules on how it can be used in the state of California, which is what the particular instructions you are referring to correspond with. If that is not the state you are located in, then that restriction would not apply to you.

In general, there would be zero reason to spray Taurus in those months as it would be a waste of treatment since insects are not active and foraging for food in the winter to be impacted by the treatment. Taurus can be used 2-4 times a year based on the mix rate used during each application, and during the times when a pest application would make sense during the warmer months of the year. While there isn't a set temp restriction, you would not use it when temps are below 45-50 degrees in most instances.

    Q
Can Taurus SC be poured over stone around the house so that is seeps through to the soil underneath? Would this treatment be effective?
    A

If using Taurus SC Termiticide for Subterranean Termite trench applications, you must dig a 6 in x 6 in trench direclty against the foundation of the home per the product label. If there are landscape stones, gravel, barriers, etc that are in the path of the trench and these are not able to be removed to dig a continuous trench, we would recommend digging the trench up to the stone in your case and then continue on the other side. Pour the 4 gallons of mixed solution (3.2 fl oz Taurus SC with 4 gallons of water) every 10 linear feet and if able, uses a steel rod to prob under the stone as best as you can on both sides so the mixed solution can leach under the stone.
If using Taurus SC Termiticide for exterior perimeter treatment of carpenter ants, roaches, spiders, etc, mix 0.8fl oz per gallon of water. Spray 1ft up and 1ft out from the foundation, around windows, doors, under the eaves of the roof, etc. Do not spray landcape beds, ornamentals, bushes, shrubs, etc.

    Q
Will treatment harm cats that eat grass, or wild animals that may eat our berries?
I am applying a trench treatment around our home. I understand that edibles should be planted at least 10 feet away. Sometimes my cats escape and eat the grass. Will this harm them or make them sick?
    A
Domestic animals such as dogs and cats should be kept out of the area during application of Taurus SC Termiticide and while wet. Once completely dry it is safe for them to return as well as other adults and children typically after 4-6 hours.  The small amount left behind on any grass is not enough to harm an animal.

    Q
Where to spray Taurus SC Termiticide?
I was going to purchase this mostly for carpenter ants. However I just read it shouldn't be used on garages, on vertical surfaces, or sidewalks…all places I had planned to spray to keep bugs from crossing into the buildings. What is the reason it shouldn't be sprayed here? Thank you
    A

Per EPA Regulations, Taurus SC can only be sprayed one foot up and one foot out around the foundation of the structure and is not for use inside structures at all unless directly spot treating active infestations in wood. For additional information on treating carpenter ants, please check out our treatment and prevention article/videos here.
