    Q
Termidor after my sprinklers were on?
I had termidor injected (8 feet deep by my exterminator) around 5 hours after my sprinklers were on. Was that a problem? I read somewhere that the soil should have been dry.
    A
No, it is not a problem.  Termidor is made to bond to the soil and if the soil is a little wet that is not an issue.  You should not apply Termidor while it is raining, but if the soil is a damp or wet it is not an issue.

Can Termidor be used inside a house?
    A
Termidor SC is for outdoor use only. Termidor SC can only be used indoors if you are spot treating termite activity inside the house.  You cannot use Termidor SC indoors as a pest control application or to treat ants.

    Q
Wisdom TC Flowable, is this a good product for the treatment and control of subterranean termites in a house?
Had my home treated about a year ago with this product and again about three months ago. It didn't seem to slow them down much and they are still active now. This was a whole house treatment and i would have thought they would be gone by now. Any good advice would be helpful. The damage is mostly being done in my attic with some wall activity. Thanks !
    A

We do not sell Wisdom TC Flowable and cannot comment on its effectiveness on termites. One of our most popular products for subterranean termites is Termidor SC.

Termidor will protect your home and eliminate almost any termite problem in less than 90 days. In addition, when used as an in-ground barrier treatment, Termidor will protect your home or business for over 10 years. Please see our Subterranean Termite Treatment page.

    Q
Can you mix an IGR with Termidor SC?
    A

Yes, Termidor SC can mixed with an IGR, although there are not that many applications where this would be beneficial. You would need to use an IGR that is labeled for outdoor perimeter use, such as NyGuard IGR. Be sure to check the labels on how and where to spray both products.

How far apart should I drill holes when drilling a patio slab for termites?
I have a concrete slab patio at the rear of my house. How far apart should I drill holes? Can I just pore the solution in the hole? How far apart should he holes be and how much solution per hole? Thanks!
    A
When performing a termite treatment and treating concrete slabs, the holes should be drilled about 2-3 inches away from the house, and 10 inches apart.  Typically a 1/2 inch drill bit is used.  You can fill the holes using a funnel or a one gallon hand pump sprayer with the nozzle turned so the sprayer shoots out a pinstream.  You are supposed to apply 4 gallons per 10 feet in the drill holes as well as the trench.  This is very hard to do.  Usually you would just fill the holes and then come back 30 minutes later after the soil beneath the slab has soaked up the product and fill the holes up again.  Do this 3 times and then patch the holes or use our Trebor Plugs

    Q
Will Fipronil products work on spiders?
    A
The only Fipronil product that will work on spiders is Termidor SC. Most other fipronil products are in bait formulations which spiders will not eat. You should note that Termidor SC will not offer a fast knock down of spiders and can be used outdoors only.

    Q
What is the shelf life of Termidor SC?
I had purchased two bottles of Termidor, Product ID: A0007, back in May of 2013. Is this product still effective and is it applied in the same manner as your current Termidor SC product?
    A
Termidor SC has a 3-5 year shelf life from the date of purchase if stored away from extreme temperatures. Termidor Foam should have a shelf life of about 1-2 years. The nozzle and hose should just be rinsed with water after use. Termidor DRY shelf life if stored in a cool dry area is up to 3 years.

    Q
If Termidor is sprayed on untreated wood, does it prevent termites? If so, for how long? What is best way to treat 4"x 4" post with dry wood termites to kill and prevent future infestation?
    A
Termidor SC (fipronil for termites) and Bora-Care will work, but Bora-Care is typically the better one to use for this situation. Termidor SC is not a wood treatment product, so for it to work you have to drill holes EXACTLY where the termites are and it has to touch the termites to work.  If you miss where they are, it will not work.  Also, Termidor SC does not really have any residual in the wood, so after you treat inside the wood with Termidor SC and it dries, that wood is exposed for future termite and beetle infestations.

    Termidor: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/termidor-sc-p-184.html

Bora-Care is usually the preferred choice if most of the wood is exposed and it is raw wood you are treating, meaning it is not painted, stained, or sealed, it is just normal wood.  Bora-Care is made only for wood, and you do not have to know exactly where the termites are for it to work which is a plus.  Bora-Care is sprayed evenly over all exposed surfaces of the wood and actually penetrates through the entire piece of wood.  When the termites in the wood try to consume the wood after it has been treated, they ingest the Bora-Care with the wood and die.  No matter where they are in the wood the Bora-Care will find them as long as you treated the exposed wood that you can see.  The other main benefit is that Bora-Care stays in the wood forever, so you will not have to worry about termites or beetles infesting the wood that you treated ever again.

    Q
    Termite treatment
My question continues to be unanswered. I fully understand the process of treatment for termites. But you are saying in order to get proper coverage, I need to treat the ground FULLY around my home?? So if I have pavers in my back yard up to the foundation of my home, I will need to drill thru them to get the product into the soil?? My house is 4 years old. As I said previously, I have post tension slab, so I cannot drill directly into the foundation.
    A
If the slab is already there, you have to do the 6 inch wide by 6 inch deep trench directly against the side of the slab in the soil ALL the way around the home. If there are pavers that can be moved, move them, trench and replace. If they can not be moved drill through them with a 1/2 inch by 18 inch drill bit every foot a part and use roughly 1/2 to 1 gallon of solution per hole. You do NOT drill into the foundation, you drill through pavers if they cant be moved, driveways or sidewalks that may be poured up against the slab and trench anywhere soil comes up to the slab directly. If this still does not make sense, please call me at 866-581-7378 ext 325 for me to try and explain it on the phone as i do not know how to better explain it than through what i have already said, the video i suggested you watch, and the "How To" guide i suggested you read.

    Q
Can you do a perimeter treatment only on a home that has crawl space with 4 piers or must the piers be treated?
piers are hard do get to. low crawl. will a perimeter foundation treatment be enough
    A

Yes, you can use Termidor SC around the perimeter of your home and in the crawl space. If your house is on piers, you will need to treat around each one. It is not necessary to do a treatment in the crawl space if you cannot get to the area.

    Q
How does heavy rain affect ground treatment?
I applied Termidor SC as ground treatment around my house. The next day it started raining and continued to rain for several days how does this affect the treatment?
    A

As long as Termidor SC has time to dry and bind with the soil, the rain will not affect it. It is best to wait until you have a few days of no rain in the forecast so there is at least 24 - 36 hours time after you treat before it rains.  After that it will hold quite well to rain and weather.

  • Asked by Jeff from Indianapolis, In

    Q
Are there alternatives to Termidor since you can't ship to my state?
It says that Termidor SC is not allowed to be shipped to Indiana. Can you recommend something just as good that can be shipped to Indiana? I was told that it's an excellent barrier for ants around the home, which I have a problem with. I've also been told that licensed exterminators can use it in Indiana but it's not available for home consumers and I really don't want to pay the high cost they charge and just do it myself. Any suggestions are appreciated.
    A
Taurus SC is basically the same product as Termidor SC it's just made by a different manufacturer. The Taurus SC manufacturer has registered their product for sale in Indiana. Both products contain the same active ingredient and both have pretty much the same instruction label for ant control.

    Q
Should I be concerned about using Termidor SC near my vegetable garden?
I would like to use Termidor for termite control and ant control around the perimeter of my home. I also have a vegetable garden on my property and I worry that the ants that have walked through the Termidor SC could possibly contaminate my vegetables. My garden is several yards from where I would apply the Termidor.
    A

No, there is no need to be concerned. As long as your vegetable garden is not directly sprayed with the Termidor SC or so close to the treatment area that runoff or overspray comes in contact with the garden, Termidor SC is safe to use. There is no worry of ants transferring Termidor to any vegetation.

    Q
    Will Termidor SC kill wasps?
I have a pesky wasp that just started flying around my kids wooden swing set. Will it damage the wood or leave a residue that can hurt my kids?
    A

Yes, Termidor SC will kill wasps and it is labeled for wasps. However, Termidor SC is also labeled to only be used on a structure or immediately around the foundation of a structure. So, while it will not damage or harm the wood of the swing set it is not labeled to be used there. You can use a pyrethrin product such as Wasp Freeze to knockdown the wasps that are currently buzzing around. We do not recommend spraying anything directly onto swing sets as the children will come in repeat contact with the insecticides. Finding the wasp nest and treating it directly would be the most effective treatment. Some species of wasps can also be baited. You can set out an empty tuna fish can and see if the wasps are attracted to it. If the wasps are attracted to it, you can try baiting with our Yellow Jacket Bait Station Kit.

    Q
What is the best ant killer to put around the house to keep ants from coming in?
We have the carpenter ants and little brown ants.
    A
Termidor SC is the # 1 choice for ant control around the outside of your home. Termidor SC is a non-repellent insecticide that also has a transfer effect. That means that ants cannot tell that the Termidor SC is there and will walk right over it and then pick the product up on their bodies and inadvertantly carry it back to the colony, then through normal social interaction the ants spread the Termidor SC and wipe out the colony. Termidor SC only needs to be applied two times per year and is effective for a wide variety of insects including ants, centipedes, roaches, spiders, silverfish, wasps and many other nuisance insects.
