Torocity Herbicide is a selective herbicide that provides both pre-emergent and post-emergent control of many common broadleaf weeds, grassy weeds, and sedges in established turfgrass. It can also be used at seeding for many turfgrass species, making it a versatile option for weed prevention and control in residential and commercial lawns.
Torocity Herbicide controls a wide range of broadleaf weeds, grassy weeds, and sedges, including:
For best results, apply to young, actively growing weeds according to the product label.
Yes. Torocity Herbicide can be applied as a pre-emergent treatment before weed seeds germinate. Applications should be made as close to germination as possible for optimal control.
For extended prevention of annual grassy weeds such as crabgrass and foxtail, Torocity can be tank mixed with another pre-emergent herbicide, such as Barricade 65WG, according to label directions.
Yes. Torocity Herbicide can be applied before or after seeding many turfgrass species and is often used during lawn establishment to help reduce weed competition.
However, applications to fine fescue may reduce turf density. Torocity can be used on grass seed blends containing less than 20% hard or fine fescue by weight. For the best weed control, apply at seeding or as close to seeding as possible.
Apply Torocity Herbicide when weeds are actively growing and environmental conditions favor healthy plant growth for post-emergent applications.
For optimal performance, apply Torocity Herbicide during the coolest parts of the day, such as early morning or late afternoon/evening. Avoid spraying when temperatures are at their peak, especially when they exceed 85°F.
Applying during cooler conditions helps reduce stress on desirable turfgrass and promotes better herbicide performance on target weeds.
For post-emergent spot treatments, mix 1 teaspoon of Torocity Herbicide and 3 teaspoons of a non-ionic surfactant in 2 gallons of water. Apply the solution evenly over up to 2,000 square feet, using approximately 1 gallon of spray solution per 1,000 square feet.
Always follow the product label for complete mixing and application instructions based on the target weeds and treatment area.
Pre-emergence Applications: Apply 4-8 fluid ounces of Torocity per acre in at least 30 gallons of water per acre before seeds germinate and as close to seed germination as possible. Combine this product with another pre-emergence herbicide including Barricade 65WG for extended control of crabgrass and foxtail.
New Seedings/New Lawn Applications: Apply 5-8 fluid ounces of Torocity per acre before seeding or after seeding of turfgrass species listed below, expect fine fescue, as application to fine fescue can reduce grass density. Torocity can be effectively used on grass seed blends that contain less than 20% by weight hard/fine fescue. For optimal control, apply at grass or as close to seeding as possible.
Post-emergence Application: Apply 4-8 fluid ounces of Torocity per acre in at least 30 gallons of water per acre with a NIS surfactant. Make a repeat application 2-3 weeks later for optimal weed control. Apply to young, actively growing weeds.
Do not apply directly to water or to areas where surface water is present, or to intertidal areas below the mean high-water mark. Do not contaminate water when disposing of equipment wash water.
See label for more instructions.
For post-emergent applications, Torocity Herbicide should be mixed with a non-ionic surfactant (NIS) and applied to young, actively growing weeds.
A second application may be needed for optimal control and can be made 2 to 3 weeks after the initial treatment if allowed by the product label. Treated weeds typically stop growing, turn white as chlorophyll production is disrupted, and gradually die over time.
Yes, using a surfactant helps maximize the effectiveness of Torocity Herbicide on emerged weeds.
For the best post-emergent weed control results, Torocity Herbicide should be applied with a non-ionic surfactant. The surfactant helps the herbicide spread across and adhere to weed foliage, improving absorption and overall effectiveness.
For spot treatments, use 3 teaspoons of non-ionic surfactant per 2 gallons of spray solution along with the recommended Torocity Herbicide rate.
After application, susceptible weeds typically stop growing first and then begin to lose chlorophyll, causing the foliage to turn white. This whitening effect is a normal sign that the herbicide is working.
Visible injury may appear within several days, while complete weed control can take up to three weeks, depending on the weed species, size, and growing conditions. Some difficult weeds may require a follow-up application as directed by the label.
Yes. Torocity Herbicide can be applied using a hand-held pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or other calibrated spray equipment for spot treatments. Be sure to mix the product at the labeled rate and apply enough spray solution to uniformly cover the target weeds without excessive runoff.
Proper calibration and even coverage are important for achieving the best weed control results.

USED TO KILL NIMBLEWILL and MORE
By Ab on 08/04/2023
This kills Nimblewill and due to seeds will likely come back, but over the last several years have killed a ton of it off. Works on some other weeds too. Give it time to work. It will take days for the weeds to start turning white. Follow directions and do us Surfactant.

Generic Tenacity
By Kelly on 03/15/2024
Works as promised! Too good! My whole back yard is white after a week! I didn't even realize how many weeds I had. I can't wait to use this as a pre-emergent in the fall and spring. I got to it too late this year but it is working great as a post-emergent! Great stuff! Worth the price!

I just wanted to clarify that you would mix 1 teaspoon in 1 gallon of water in sprayer?
Torocity Herbicide (Generic Tenacity Herbicide) states to use 1 teaspoon in 2 gallons of water & using 1 gallon to cover 1k square feet for spot treating weeds as a post emergent application per the product label. So those 2 gallons should cover 2k square feet. You also need to include 3 teaspoons of non-ionic surfactant in those 2 gallons.

Tenacity is labeled to target yellow nutsedge and spotted spurge but I don’t see them listed for Torocity. Is there a difference between the two products?
Torocity Herbicide is just a Generic Tenacity Herbicide, they have the same active ingredient and instructions, just different manufacturers. Neither are labeled to control spurge but will control yellow nutsedge.

6000 square feet. Mostly thin/bare.
When using Torocity Herbicide as a pre emergent it would be applied at the rate of 5-8 oz per acre, or roughly 0.113 - 0.18 oz per 1000 sq/ft. This comes out to about 1/2 a teaspoon per 1000 sq/ft in 1-2 gallons of water. Complete instructions on the product label to review.

When using Torocity, foliage of treated weeds cease growth after application, then turn white (loss of chlorophyll) and death may take up to three weeks. A repeat application may be required depending on what weeds you are treating.
