Is Trimec 992 harmful to dogs? How long after application is the yard safe for dogs?

No, Trimec 992 Herbicide is not harmful to animals if used as directed. Your pets can go back into the lawn once the product is dry. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Two questions. I need a good broad-spectrum herbicide to spot spray 15 acres with a 25 ga. sprayer.
My field is mostly tall fescue. Lots of various weeds - tall and short. 'Was looking at Trimec 992, but wasn't sure. Also could not figure out mix ratio, product per 25 ga. water. Have alot to do, so economy is an issue, too. And would a surfactant help what ever product you recommend? Alot of info, I know, but thanks....

Do the weeds need to be wet to apply Trimec 992?

A

It is best to apply Trimec 992 when the weeds are no too wet from any rain or dew so that the product can be applied to the leaves and not drip off easily from being wet already. You should apply when rain is not expected within 24 hours after application as well.

At what temperature can you spray Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide?

When using Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide the tempuratures would need to be above freezing, and the weeds would need to be actively growing in order for the product to work effectively. Most post-emergent herbicides such as Trimec will be most effective when temperatures are around 65-80 degrees.

Creeping Charlie Resistant or old product?
I applied 992 at the maximum application rate of 1.5oz per 1,000 sqft and it is barely knocking down my creeping charlie (but took out most other weeds. My bottle of Trimec is about 6 years old, but has been sealed tightly and stored out of light. Do you think the creeping charlie is resistant to Trimec 992 and I need to use a different product or do you think my Trimec is just old and I need to order a new bottle from you? Thanks

Can Trimec be stored to use this season and next season, or does it lose its potency?

You can store the concentrate in its original container as long as you keep it out of direct sunlight and out of extreme temperatures. You cannot store any product after it has been diluted with water.

How soon can grass seed be sown after application of Trimec 992 herbicide?
I have a yard completely overgrown by nutsedge and bur clover. After it all dies, all that will be left is sparse ryegrass. I would like to plant buffalograss because this is a home for sale and I don't want a lot of care needed this summer. How soon can I sow seed after applying?

Areas treated with Trimec 992 may be reseeded after 3 weeks. After you have put down new seed, you should wait until after the second mowing to new seedlings to use Trimec 992.

They only tell you how much of the product to apply over 1000 square feet. The amount of water is dependent on how ever much water it takes for you to walk 1000 square feet. Whether you place the amount of product per 1000 square feet in a gallon of water or 10 gallons of water, it does not matter, just as long as that amount of product is distributed over the 1000 square feet.

What is the mechanism that actually kills the weeds?
I am using a Fertilome product that contains Trimec. I notice that it beads up on the plant leaves. I'm afraid that it needs something to break through the leaf surface (surfactant) and is not doing it. Does Trimec kill similar to Roundup?

Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide has three different active ingredients that work differently but work exceptionally well together. 2,4-D and MCPP-p are an auxin- type herbicide which is a class of plant growth regulators. It is absorbed through the leaves and is translocates to the growing points of the plants, causing weed stems to curl and twist, withering, and eventual death. Lastly, the Dicamba is absorbed through the leaves and roots and has multiple modes of actions for hard to kill broadleaf weeds.

Should I hold off treating with Trimec 992 Herbicide if there is rain in the forecast?

Yes, if there's rainfall in the forecast then you should wait to apply Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide at least 24 hours. The label states that it is rainfast in 8 hours but to not apply it immediately before rainfall.

I used Trimec 992 on my lawn of .3 acres and used 1/2 gallon of Trimec mixed with water yesterday, Saturday. How long before I see results as 14 hours later I do not see any change in henbit, clover, dandelions, or thorn thistle?

Trimec 992 does not come in a smaller size. However, there is a generic of Trimec 992 that is available in a smaller size with the same efficiency as Trimec 992. The name of the generic is EndRun Herbicide with Trimec, which is available in a 1 gallon jug.
