Bed Bug Heat Treatment Tips:
Steamers are a great chemical-free and effective way to treat for pests such as bedbugs and dust mites. The pests and their eggs are killed instantly when subjected to the high heat produced by the steamer. When treating for bedbugs or dust mites on furniture such as sofas, chairs, and beds there are a few simple steps to follow to help be successful in eradicating the pests. Before you start always make sure to follow these few rules.
Purging the steamer: Always purge the steamer, once the steamer is heated and ready for use (the red heating light turns off when ready) purge the excess water from the steam gun by depressing the trigger and expelling the water into a towel or container. This is the water that is collected as the steamer heats up initially and also can collect between uses such as moving to a new room or location between steaming. Once the water is purged attach the appropriate accessory and begin steaming. Remember with all steamer there is moisture and water build up, steam is water so always have a dry towel on hand to help absorb excess water.
Never steam into electrical outlets or connections and when steaming along base boards, wood furniture and trim always follow with a dry towel to remove the condensation or water build up. When steaming a mattresses or bedding make sure to allow the mattress or bedding to completely air dry prior to installing any plastic covers or plastic encasements commonly used for bedbug prevention.
Attachments: Using the clothes steamer attachment with the small cotton cover is great for beds, pillows, sofas, chairs etc. Pass over the area slowly with light contact in order to heat the area being treated and killing the pest and their eggs. The jet tip is great for getting into corners of bed frames, moldings, trim, furniture or any details areas that may be infected.
Vapamore MR-100 Primo Included Parts: Parts and Attachments:
Vapamore MR-100 Primo Steam cleaner system is very efficient in sanitizing. If you have bed bugs, dustmites, roaches or what ever the infestation the hot steam that comes from this machine (which by the way is very simple to use) will deafinitly elminate the problem. It also cleans in the process, it will lift dirt and stains right out the material. I am pleased with it
I LOVE this steamer...if I wanted to spend another $1500 I would have bought the Ladybug, but for the price, wow! We have a historic home and I have used it on wallpaper, woodwork, upholstered furniture, leather furniture, carpets, matresses and box springs, and wood floors. I even used it on our gorgeous wooden headboard! In order to save some money on the pads, I just cut up some rags and used a rubber band to secure. This is a FANTASTIC piece for the money...My nickname is "The Queen of Research". I have done the work for you!
We purchased the Primo steamer to add to our equipment in the fight for bed bug control. It is a very fair price for the job it does. I wish it had a way to tell how much water is in the tank......but, works very well. It's just not a totally dry steamer and does produce some water. If you don't have alot of cash to throw down, this is your best choice.
I have only seen bed bugs in one room. If I get a steamer here, is this good enough to treat entire house?
What chemicals, if any, do you recommend in addition to the steamer? I want the Steri-Fab, but do I really need the heavy duty stuff? I am by myself, have limited funds and I am looking for the easiest way to do this. I also have 2 animals and 2 fish tanks. Please help. I have ordered the chemicals in kit #3, but I would like return it.
Using a high quality steamer such as the Vapamore is great but it should not be relied on as the sole bedbug treatment. Bedbugs hide in many places and they can lay their eggs literally anywhere and you will need to use products that leave a residual behind to be sure that even those hidden bugs will be killed. You should keep and use Bedbug Kit #3 as it contains the products you will need to eliminate these pests. Be sure all animals are out of the room being treated and that they remain out of the area until it is dry. If you do decide to use a steamer (we definitely recommend that you do), you should use the steamer first and then use the insecticides.
Is there a non-toxic way or treatment to remove varied carpet beetle larvae?
Steamers are always a great option to use when you do not want to use any chemicals - even all-natural ones - in the home to eliminate a pest. It can often take longer to eliminate the pest when just using a steamer, but its an effective way to provide a safe contact kill to any crevices where the larvae or adults may be hiding. We have many steamers that would work for your needs; some of the most popular ones for our customers being the Vapamore MR100 Steamer and the EnviroMate Brio Steamer.
