Can the UV glare from a fly light hurt your eyes?

A

The Vector Plasma Fly Light and any other fly light gives off a soft UV light that is meant to attract flies, but is not so strong that it hurts your eyes. Of course, it would not be smart to stare at the light for long periods of time.

The Vector Plasma 1083 Fly Light (Screened) is not to be used outdoors. It can be applied for indoor use. We do carry outdoor fly products that will work great for the patio area.

What is the life of the UV in the bulbs for the Vector Plasma 1083 fly light?
Do the lights UV potency wear out and need to be replace over time even though they work and light up fine?

I need a fly light for a room that is all-windows, so we have to put the unit on the floor.

While the Vector Plasma Fly light CAN be placed on the floor rather than hung, you likely will get less control over the population. While the Vector Plasma Fly light CAN be placed on the floor rather than hung, you likely will get less control over the population. The best placement for any fly light is mounted 3-6 feet high on a wall. Also, if you are placing this in a room that is all windows, this will greatly reduce the effectiveness of the light as fly lights should be placed in areas where there are no other competing light sources. You may want to look at doing higher levels of fly control on the exterior of your building to reduce the overall numbers around the structure that would be trying to get in. Using products like Maxforce Fly Spot bait out of reach of children on the sides of building/walls or on nearby dumpsters/trash recepticals can help drastically control a population. You can also use a general insecticide like Tastar on any surrounding door and window frames, as well as any foliage of bushes or leaf surface around the structure where flying insects, or pests in general, may congregate.

Can you supply replacement sockets for the Vector Plasma 1083 Fly Light?
Looks like everyone we have are over heating and become brittle. Bad design for high output bulbs. Might want to reconsider the temp rating for these sockets so these fixtures can preform longer without having to pay for a new one.
