How This All Natural Bed Bug Kit Works

The All Natural Bed Bug Kit contains two different natural insecticides with different active ingredients and modes of action, offering complete bed bug treatment in one kit. The variety of formulations is necessary to treat all potential harborage sites of bed bugs. Products with a longer residual effect can be used in fewer areas. Using dusts and insecticide concentrates where possible also helps to reduce costs, as ready-to-use products are more expensive per application. The combination of EcoVia EC and CimeXa together is every bit as powerful in terms of efficacy as any product combination on the market. The fragrance from EcoVia EC does not linger for long.

The EcoVia EC Insecticide contains botanical active ingredients and is National Organic Program (NOP) compliant. These botanical ingredients act as octopamine blockers on target pests, disrupting the neurotransmitter function in target insects and causing a breakdown in the insects’ central nervous system. Because mammals, birds, and fish do not have receptors for octopamine, botanical oils are very safe to use in a variety of situations without adverse effects. The EcoVia EC is a concentrate that should be diluted with water and applied with a hand pump sprayer. CimeXa Insecticide Dust contains amorphous silica gel, which acts as a desiccant when insects crawl across it. Dust is extremely stable, but it is only for use in voids and areas where it will not be easily disturbed or picked up by people or pets. The CimeXa Dust Insecticide has the slowest kill of all the products in the kit. With the combination of a really fast killing insecticide, good residual, control of pyrethroid and neonicotinoid resistant strains, and the fact EcoVia EC goes into and stays in solution beautifully, this is a great product to combine with CimeXa Dust.

Target Pests

Bed Bugs

PESTS CONTROLLED WITH ALL NATURAL BED BUG KIT: Combination of products is intended for bed bug treatment. See individual product labels for complete lists. Additional pests controlled include:

EcoVia EC: flying, crawling and sucking insects such as ants, cockroaches, spiders, fleas, bed bugs, flies, wasps, mosquitoes, ticks, brown marmorated stink bugs, kudzu bugs, white flies, and aphids

CimeXa Insecticide Dust: crawling pests including ants, cockroaches, spiders, silverfish, lice, fleas, ticks

Target Uses

The All Natural Bed Bug Kit is made to treat at least 2 rooms completely at least twice for active bed bug infestations in particularly sensitive cases or when the use of all natural pesticides is preferred. This kit is also ideal when there may be pressure for occupants to return to the area more quickly after treatment. The kit contains different products to treat all potential harborage sites. Different products are labeled for use in different places, so using a variety of products allows for the most thorough and cost effective treatment. Because every situation is different, purchase of additional product may be needed for follow up treatments. The products in this kit are also effective for a variety of other common pests.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS:

EcoVia EC: Thyme Oil - 20.0%, 2-Phenethyl Propionate - 14.0%, Rosemary Oil - 8.0%

CimExa Insecticide Dust: Amorphous Silica Gel 100%

Application Instructions

*For additonal application instructions, including videos, see our article: How to get rid of bed bugs

Kit Contents:

EcoVia EC:  (16 oz bottle):

Shake well before using. EcoVia EC should be mixed with water or oil and applied with a handed pressurized compressed air sprayer, backpack sprayer or mist blower, power sprayer, mechanical aerosol misting/fogging equipment, (ULV or thermal), automated spray systems or other conventional application equipment. Clean spray equipment before use. Add approximately half of the required amount of water or oil to the tank and then add the appropriate amount of product, agitate and add the remaining water or oil. Apply the solution until surfaces are wet, but not to the point of run-off. Product requires only light agitation in spray systems after concentrate has been diluted. When diluting with water, prepare only the amount needed for use within 12 hours and maintain light agitation during use. Do not store spray solution overnight. After applications, rinse the tank with clean water, pressurize the tank and flush the valve and hose.

CRAWLING INSECT PESTS GENERAL PEST CONTROL: Dilute product at the rate of up to 1 to 2 fluid ounces per gallon (use lower rate for maintenance service and higher rates for active infestations) and apply at the rate of 1 gallon per 1000 square feet or until area is damp. Treat areas where pests are present, or where pests normally feed, find shelter, or travel. Thoroughly spray all cracks and crevices where insects may hide or enter the building. Some of these areas include baseboards, floorboards, corners, around water and utility pipes, behind and under refrigerators, cabinets, sinks, behind and beneath equipment and appliances, around floor drains, window and door frames and other possible pest harborage sites. Do not apply directly to house plants. Cover/avoid any pools or aquaria prior to spraying.

ANT CONTROL: Dilute product at the rate of up to 1 to 2 fluid ounces per gallon (use lower rate for maintenance service or smaller ants and higher rates for active infestations and larger ant species) as a spot treatment until the area is damp. Apply to ant trails, cracks, and crevices where ants are entering the structure, feeding or travelling. Remove food sources.

FLYING AND STINGING INSECT CONTROL: Dilute product at the rate of up to 1 to 2 fluid ounces per gallon (use lower rate for maintenance service and higher rates for active infestations) and apply as a spot treatment in areas where insects rest, mate, or enter the structure such as window frames, doors, light fixtures, and other surfaces that attract flying insects. Apply spray to nests of stinging insects in the early morning or late evening when the highest number of insects will be at the nest site. (Use higher rates for stinging insects.)

TICKS AND FLEAS: Dilute product at the rate of up to 2 fluid ounces per gallon and apply until area is damp. Treat infested areas such as pet beds and resting areas, carpeted floors, cracks, voids, crevices, and other harborage areas nearby the infested areas. Do not spray this product directly on pets. Thoroughly clean, or replace, all pet bedding after infestation is eliminated. Pets in infested quarters should be treated with an appropriately labeled on-animal treatment.

BED BUGS: Dilute product at the rate of up to 2 fluid ounces per gallon. Remove bedding and take the bed apart. Treat the interior framework, joints and cracks in the bed frame. Treat the mattress and box spring, paying particular attention to tufts, folds and edges, and the interior framework of the box spring. Remove wall-mounted head boards and treat the back side. Treat picture frames, moldings, hollow furniture legs, cracks and crevices, along baseboards, and any areas with visible signs of infestation, including rugs and carpet. Treat upholstered furniture by removing or lifting (if possible) the cushions and treating the undersurface. Treat the interior framework, cracks and joints of the furniture, and the folds, tufts and edges of cushions and other upholstered areas. Do not treat toys and stuffed animals with product.

FOGGING: Dilute product at the rate of up to 2 to 4 fluid ounces per gallon as a space spray through conventional fogging equipment or misting systems (lower rates are recommended in food facility applications) and apply at the rate of 1 to 3 fluid ounces per 1000 cubic feet filling the area with mist or fog.

Cimexa Dust for Bed Bugs (4 oz. bottle): Dusts are great for applying under baseboards around the room (this stops bedbugs from fleeing the room and spreading to other areas), for dusting on and inside the box spring itself, and for dusting in cracks and crevices where liquids may not go (such as in and behind picture frames, underneath furniture, in the cracks of dresser drawers, and in the joints, cracks and hollow tubing of bed frames, etc.). Dust is best applied with the hand duster that is included with your kit. Apply in a fine coating on surfaces, and do not over-dust.  Leaving piles of dust will just cause the insect to walk around the dust and not through it.

Bellows Hand Duster: The bellows hand duster included with this kit should be used to apply the dust to any cracks and crevices needed. By using the bellows hand duster you will be able to apply the correct amount of dust in the correct place.

The yield of ready-to-use products varies greatly with the user.

Mix 1-4 oz of EcoVia EC per gallon of water depending upon application site and insect.

A 4-ounce bottle of CimeXa Dust covers approximately 200 square feet of total surface area.

Standard Application Dilution rates / Mixing Ratios for All Natural Bed Bug Kit:

*EcoVia EC: 1-4 fl. oz. (30-120 mL)/gal. of water

*CimeXa dust: Using included Bellows Hand Duster, apply at a rate of 2 ounces per 100 square feet. Apply about ¼ oz. of dust to each accessible void.

For use in the following areas:

Complete list of approved sites varies with each product, but all are labeled for use in residential buildings and commercial buildings such as apartments, hotels, and motels. EcoVia EC is National Organics Program (NOP) compliant and is a minimum risk pest control product that qualify for exemption from EPA registration under FIFRA 25(B).

Indoors-

See above for general application instructions. See the included Bedbug PDF Guide for complete treatment instructions. After preparing room(s) for treatment, apply included products as directed. Thorough treatments may seem time-consuming, but they are essential for success when treating for bed bugs. Follow up treatments should be performed every 10-14 days until no bed bug activity has been seen for at least 2 weeks. The use of CimeXa Dust and EcoVia Ec in rooms adjacent to infested area(s) will help contain infestations and protect from other common pests.

Outdoors-

Bed bug kits are intended for indoor use, however, EcoVia EC may be used outdoors as a general perimeter insecticide for a wide variety of crawling or flying pests. See product label for complete list of uses.

Features of the All Natural Bed Bug Kit

*Unique modes of action control pyrethroid resistant bed bugs.

*Extensive 5-page Bed Bug Guide instructions included with every kit purchase.

*Included products can be used for any surface you may need to treat.

*Ideal choice for sensitive accounts

*Included products may be used for a variety of other common pests.

Extra Tips

*Complete, thorough treatment is essential to success. More thorough initial treatments means fewer follow-up treatments.

*It is recommended to test EcoVia EC for staining on an inconspicuous area of all surfaces to be sprayed before using. Wipe away excess product on furniture immediately after application.

*Hard surfaces may be slippery after application.

*Keep children and pets out of treatment area until application is complete (We recommend waiting until products are dry, usually about an hour).

*Steam or heat treatments, if used, should always be performed before residual insecticides are used. Steam will break down insecticides.

*Purchase of additional products may be needed for follow up treatments, depending on individual use.

    Pretty good

    By Ginger on 10/08/2013

    Verified Purchase

It works pretty good. The smell of the spray is pleasant, but the furniture spray smells like bengay and old tobacco. It definitely kills them, but it's not a continuous "killer". In that you may need to spray more than once. It does go a long way. We sprayed our living room and the bedroom with less than a gallon of spray, and had plenty left in case we need to spray again. Would definitely recommend!

    By Cassie on 03/14/2012

    Verified Purchase

These products seem to work ok, but we have only done the first treatment. There are still some bed bugs hanging around. we will see how it goes after the next treatment. The smell is not unpleasant but very very strong. My house still smells like peppermint a week later.

Happy so far. But I still Look!

    By Adrianne on 01/25/2016

So after having treated my house once before (primarily my sons room) with the products that were available the last time I ordered from this site I decided to order not only this product but the Temprid SC Insecticide and the Alpine Dust. It came with a very clear set of instructions for the use of all the products together. Another customer had commented on the nice light mint smell. BUT THE LIGHT MINT SMELL WAS A CROCK!!! It is so strong that it about drove my family out of our home. Plus it took days for the smell to go away. I did my house twice just to be safe and I still months later look every day in the spots that caused the problem in the first place. So far so good. But you have to work hard and to exactly what the directions say.

    About 3 Weeks

    By Peter on 09/05/2015

It lasted only about 3 weeks. Our infestation is bad. We wrapped the bed, furniture in plastic and used several "recommended" chemical pesticides. This one lasted 3 weeks before return.

    Expert ResponseExpert response:
Bed bug infestations can take several applications every 7-10 days over a few months for complete control due to the life cycle and egg laying habits of the insect. Q
Is it still recommended to retreat if a bed bug kit is used?

If I purchase the all natural bed bug kit and treat my home, will I still need to retreat 2-3 times or will 1 treatment eliminate the bugs completely?

A
You will need to do the retreaments no matter what pesticides you choose. This is due to the life cycle of the bedbugs and how long it takes the eggs to hatch out. You should continue to do the retreaments every 7-10 days until you are no longer recieving bedbug bites and there is no new evidence of bedbugs (blood smears, cast skins, feces) for at least 30 days)

Q
How do I eradicate bed bugs using non-toxic methods?

DE and heat have been suggested. does lavender repel them? have been using "on contact" spray.

A

We would recommend one of our Bed Bug Control kits.  Which kit you choose depends on the number of rooms you need to treat. We do have an All Natural Bed Bug Kit which contains EcoVia EC, a botanical insecticide concentrate, plus CimeXa Insecticide Dust, and a hand duster to apply the dust. We do not carry any products that use lavender for bed bug control. Heat treatments using a steamer or other direct heat devices can be an excellent tool for part of treatment, although we would still recommend following up with residual insecticides like those in the kit. We would also recommend using Mattress and Box Spring Encasements. Please take a few moments to review our Bed Bug Treatment Guide for more tips about how to implement a successful treatment program.

Q
Does the All Natural Bed Bug Kit work for dust mites?
A

The All Natural Bed Bug Kit would not be the appropriate treatment for dust mites.

It is probably not possible to get rid of dust mites completely, since there will always be dust. However, making an undesirable environment for dust mites is the key to control. By carrying out the following control measures, you will drastically reduce the number of dust mites in your home, thereby lessening the allergic reactions of those who are sensitive.

  • Encase your mattressbox spring and pillows. Purchase encasements that are "dust mite and allergy proof". Sealing the main infestation points in an encasement can eliminate much of an allergy sufferers symptoms.

  • Properly sanitizing all bedding every week can eliminate much of a mite infestation. Wash stuffed animals, comforters, blankets and sheets in warm water (at least 77 F). By taking time to do this step you can remove all dust mites as well as their allergens from your bedding.

  • Spray items that cannot be washed like curtains, carpets, couches and recliners with a product labeled for dust mites like Steri-fab or Bedlam. Both of these products must make direct contact with dust mites to kill them, so taking time to treat suspected areas is important.

  • Vacuum carpets, mattresses, upholstered furniture and other suspected areas to remove infested dust and allergens from the home. Be sure to use a vacuum with a HEPA filter and promptly discard bag and contents outside of the home.

  • Dust mites need high humidity levels to survive. By using a dehumidifier or running a central air conditioner, lower humidity levels (less than 50%) than can be tolerated by dust mites can be achieved.
