    Q
Hi, will Bifen IT kill grasshoppers and their eggs?
    A
Bifen IT would be a good choice for grasshopper control. You should start applications before the grasshoppers have a chance to hatch for best control. If you already have grasshoppers you can use Bifen at the highest usage rate of 1 oz of product per 1 gallon of water for the quickest knockdown. Use sufficient amounts of water to help the product get to the soil layers. Once the Bifen has dried it will be completely safe for pets and children to resume their normal activity in the areas that have been treated. The Bifen is safe to be used on anything non-edible in the yard and will not harm trees, bushes, or flowers.

    Q
Will this kill the frogs and lizards? We love them.
    A

Bifen has not proven harmful to lizards or frogs. Other than eliminating the food source of the toads and lizards, Bifen IT when mixed correctly is only strong enough to kill small insects and will have no effect on lizards or anything of that size or larger.

    Q
    Shelf life...
I purchased a gallon about a year and a half ago but haven't used it as much as I anticipated. It's currently separated and I'm wondering if it can simply be remixed or if it's gone bad and needs to be disposed of.
    A

Bifen IT has a shelf life of 3-5 years if kept in a cool dry area. If you notice separation, that is normal and you can shake it up and it still be effective.

    Q
Will Bifen I/T kill bed bugs and leave a residue to eradicate them?
    A

Yes, Bifen IT is labeled for bed bugs & leaves a residual that will continue killing. However, it is not the top product that we recommend, we generally recommend using Temprid FX Insecticide. While they both have residuals, they take the Temprid back with them once they are in contact with it. You may also consider using one of our bed bug kits.

    Q
Will Bifen IT kill oleander caterpillars?
    A
Bifen IT is labeled for leaf feeing caterpillars.

You can use a product with Bt (Bacillus Thuringiensis) for control of these and other caterpillars. This article also has great information about this pest and its life cycle and management.

  • Asked by Ethan from Sparta, Wi
    03/27/2024
    Q
Will Bifen IT work if the temperatures drop below freezing every night?
I have a structure that is having clover mite issues. Bifen I/T works great at controlling them, but due to some odd weather they came a little early this year. The temperatures every night are dropping below freezing, but day time is around 50. If I do a treatment are the temperatures at night going to negatively effect the residual effects of the chemical.
    A
Bifen IT can be applied during the day in temperatures above 50 degrees and will not be effected by colder temperatures at night once dry.  At the highest rate (1 oz per gallon) it can last up to 30 days outside.

  • Asked by Abby from Spartanburg, Sc
    06/02/2024
    Q
Will Bifen IT harm chickens that eat plants that have been sprayed?
Also, is it safe to eat eggs or chickens that have consumed Bifen IT treated foliage?
    A

Bifen I/T is used in poultry housing and facilities as long as the chickens are removed from the area while you treat them. You should still be able to use it in their grazing areas with no issue since they are not actually feeding on the grass/potential seeds placed out but on the insects in that area after everything has dried. If you have any concerns with the Bifen I/T usage, another option that is safe to use in grazing areas is Essentria All Purpose. You still have to remove the chickens during the application but once dry is safe to return just like the Bifen IT. Neither product should have any effect on their eggs at all as long as you are following usage instructions.

  • Asked by Michael from Hanahan, Sc
    02/09/2017
    Q
Does Bifen help with keeping moles away??
    A

Bifen is not used to control moles. This product is an insecticide that will control lawn infesting pest like ants, roaches, crickets, worms, caterpillars, ticks, etc. The best way to control moles is with a product specifically labeled for them, such as Talpirid Mole Worms, or Giant Destroyer Gassers. You can review all of the available options on our Mole Control page. Please let us know if you have any questions.

  • Asked by Macy from Goldsboro, Nc
    02/18/2017
    Q
Can Bifen IT be used on the inside of the house for termites?
    A

Bifen IT is labeled to treat active infestations inside as directed on the product label but would only kill those termites that actively make contact with a treated surface or are sprayed directly.  If you are dealing with subterranean termites, you want to use a product that has a "tranfer-kill" effect. Termidor SC is a great product to use to treat termites and prevention, or Termidor Foam for active only, both of which are non repellent and transfer back to the colony below ground. Please see our Termite Control Page. Scroll to the bottom of the page and find information on identification and treatment for termites.

  • Asked by Margaret from Lexington,s.c.
    04/28/2017
    Q
What is the dilution ration of the Bifen IT for fire ants?
    fireants in my yard
    A

According to the Bifen IT product label, Apply 1 fl. oz. per 1,000 square feet when using broadcast treatments. For mound drenches, dilute 1 teaspoon of Bifen IT per gallon of water and use 1 to 2 gallons of finished dilution using sufficient force to penetrate the top and allow dilution to flood ant channels. Treat a four-foot diameter around each ant mound. Application should be made in late evening or early morning when it is cooler (65° - 80° when insects are most active. NOTE: A spray rig calibrated to apply 1 fluid oz. per 1,000 square feet of Bifen I/T in 5 gallons per 1,000 square feet contains the equivalent dilution (1 teaspoon per gallon) required for fire ant mound drenches in the spray tank.

    Q
Does Bifen IT this work against bees?
Does this work on bees and does it do transfer kill or only if insect directly touches it?
    A

Yes, Bifen IT is labeled for bees and can be used indoors and outdoors around the perimeter of your home. The mixing rate is 1 fl oz per gallon of water. Bifen IT can be reapplied every 30 days as needed. This is a residual so it will not kill them on contact. Once they come in contact with the treated area, they will die within a few days.
