Yes! The use rate is 0.5 ounce of the product per 1 inch of distance around the tree trunk (circumference).

Yes, put 1.5 ounces of Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula per 1 foot of height into 1 gallon of water, and pour around the base of the plant.

Can I pour Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula over my shrubs and get foliar protection?

No, as stated on the product label, it must be poured around the base of the plant.

How do you apply Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula?

For trees, mix 0.5 ounces per 1 inch of distance around the tree (circumference), and place this amount in 1 gallon of water. Pour this solution on the soil around the base of the tree or shrub.
For shrubs, use 1.5 ounces per 1 foot of height mixed in 1 gallon of water. Pour this solution on the soil around the base of the tree or shrub.
For example:
- If a tree measures 20 inches around, then mix 10 ounces of Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula in 1 gallon of water and pour around the base of the tree.
- If you have a 2-foot azalea, then mix 3 ounces of Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula in 1 gallon of water and pour on the soil around the base of the plant.

When is the best time of the year to apply Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula?

This product can be applied anytime during the growing season. Fall applications may be most appropriate for early spring pests such as birch leafminers, aphids, etc.
For pests that occur later in the season, late fall or early spring applications are effective.
Do NOT apply this product when the ground is frozen or waterlogged. If the ground is frozen or waterlogged, the material cannot soak into the ground and get to the roots.

I have a Hemlock tree. When do I apply Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula?

Soil treatments should be made when the soil is moist and not frozen or waterlogged. Fall to early winter (late August to early December) and spring to early summer (mid-March to mid-June) are optimal periods for making soil applications for the hemlock woolly adelgid.

What insects are controlled by Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula?

I have been using this product for over 4 years and and have found it very effective in most of my applications. It seems to be especially effective against mites and aphids. It is 100% effective on mites on azaleas and aphids on my podocarpus and sweet viburnum. It is truly a once a year product. I treat in March in Florida and have absolutely no pest problems the entire year. Prior to this the aphids were out of control on the podocarpus. I did find it ineffective on white scale that is infesting the sago palms.

I had a serious infestation of Bark Scale on my crape myrtle trees. I used this product to treat the infestation, and now 4 weeks later the infestation is under control. The directions were easy to follow, making it extremely easy to know how many ounces I needed to use for each tree. I just poured the product in a bucket, added lots of water, and poured it around the base of the trees. I'm going to buy more of this to have it on hand to treat my trees each year.

Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula contains Imidacloprid, the same active ingredient in Merit Insecticide at different percentages of the active ingredient. The Bio Advanced 12 month Tree and Shrub Insecticide is solely for trees and shrubs, Merit has a wider list of acceptable application sites (Lawns, interior landscapes, ornamental beds, turf grasses and more). The active ingredient Imidacloprid provides year long systemic protection against listed insects. Applications can be done any time during the year as long as the ground is not frozen or overly saturated from rainfall. Since systemic insecticides work slowly from the roots and up throughout the plant or tree, you should apply prior to insect pressure begins. The systemic process can take anywhere from a couple weeks to a few months to fully work its way up from the roots depending on the size of tree, shrub, bush or ornamental.
