    Q
Our church has a gravel parking lot in AZ. What pre emergent can we use to prevent tumbleweeds from coming?
    A

Casoron Herbicide will be a good choice to control Russian thistle (aka tumbleweed). Treating gravel lots can be tough because it is hard to contact the soil and the soil is usually very dry. To help get the Casoron granules to the soil you must heavily irrigate the area after the application. Casor…

    Q
Can Casoron 4G Herbicide be used around established roses and ornamental grass
    A

Casoron 4G Herbicide would work great around the roses. We would not recommend to use it around ornamental grasses, because it could cause injury. Casoron 4G Herbicide works by causing "tissue damage" to the roots. Since, grasses are rooted shallow, this product could stunt the ornamental grass grow…

  • Asked by Dawn from Gig Harbor, Wa

    Q
I spread Casoron 30 days ago. My puppy mouths grass and weeds. Is it safe?
Casoron was spread on our vacation lot at Ocean Shores, WA 30 days ago as a prevention for new weeds. There are random weeds and grasses that had already emerged all over the lot. My 7 month old Golden Retriever puppy mouths everything. He will pull weeds and shake them, pull at branches of woody shrubs, and sometimes eat long grasses in the treated area and nearby areas. Is it safe for him to be in this area. Package says no livestock grazing for 12 months??
    A

Casoron 4G should not harm pets when used as directed. You are right, this product is not to be used in grazing areas. Since you said that your puppy eats the grass, we recommend contacting Chemtura 800-423-8569. The manufacturer will be able to give you more specific advise on their product.

  • Asked by Sue from Warrenton

    Q
Does the active ingredient dichlobenil only act as a preemergent?
There's another product by Lilly Miller with the same ingredient that's sold as a vegetation killer at 2% and I've used it as a vegetation killer in the past, so I'm a bit confused.
    A

Casoron 4G is a preemergence herbicide that kills selective weeds and grasses. Casoron 4G controls weeds before they emerge from the ground, by forming an herbicidal vapor barrier in the upper layer of the soil when activated by rainfall or irrigation water. Casoron 4G should be applied before …

  • Asked by Sue from Warrenton, Or
    05/09/2014
    Q
Is Dichlobenil mainly a pre emergent?
Will this also kill vegetation? Dichlobenil 2% is also sold by a major brand as a vegetation killer, but then sold also as Casoron as a preemergent only. I find this confusing. I would like to a product that does both actually.
    A

Dichlobenil in Casoron 4G Herbicide is a pre emergent. There may be other ingredients in the vegetation killer product that make it a pre and post emergent.  We would recommend to contact the manufacturer of that product for the active ingredient.

  • Asked by Janie from Port Ludlow, Wa
    09/26/2014
    Q
We have a large yard. Is there a weed control product (Caseron) that lasts a year?
If so, which month is best to apply? The Caseron does not last an entire year. I know you need to put it down before the weeds begin to grow again, but I'm hoping we don't have to apply it twice a year. It sure helps prevent weeds growing; which saves on Roundup usage. Thank you for answering the question and any advice you might have.
    A

Unfortunately there is not a weed control like Casoron that will provide you year long prevention from weeds growing, the only products that provide year long control are bareground herbicides such as Pramitol. Casoron is labeled to give season long control, but you will need to reapply because it d…

What herbicide can I use to treat where tumbleweeds have taken over the back section of my lawn?
Last year they were everywhere out back. They're all dead and brown now. I don't want a repeat of last year. What can I do to prevent, and treat, if I am attacked again this year?
