    Q
    Will Dimension 2EW kill quackgrass?
    A

Dimension 2EW Herbicide is a pre-emergent herbicide to prevent weeds from germintating so it will not kill existing quackgrass. Unfortunately, there is really nothing that can be done other than spot treating with a Roundup-type product

  • Asked by Darian from Clay Center, Kansas
    10/31/2019
    Q
Would it do any good to apply Dimension 2EW Herbicide this time of year, or is it too late, and I should wait until this spring?
I live in Kansas with Buffalo grass, and we've had several hard freezes so far in October.
    A

Buffalograss is listed on the Dimension 2EW Herbicide product label as tolerable with a note: Do not use this product on seedling buffalograss in the spring of the first year of establishment until the turfgrass is fully green and has established new roots. Dimension 2EW is a pre-emergent herbicide, so it is best applied before soil temperatures reach those that are optimal for the weeds you are targeting. This is generally before soil temperatures reach 55 degrees in the spring.  In the fall, you would want to apply before soil temperatures cool to those favorable for these weeds, usually below 70 degrees. We recommend contacting your local Cooperative Extension for the best recommendation on application timing in your area.

    Q
Can Dimension 2EW Herbicide and Prodiamine 65 WDG be tank mixed?
    A

Yes, Dimension 2EW Herbicide and Prodiamine can be mixed and applied as long as you have done a Compatibility Test in a glass jar to ensure the 2 are physically compatible prior to tank mixing into your sprayer. Each product label has instructions provides instruction on doing a Compatibility Test with other herbicides and you want to always follow the recommended rate per 1000 sq ft for each herbicide.

Here is a quick video on How to Tank Mix Lawn Care Products that can also explain more.

  • Asked by Randy from Murfreesboro, Tn
    02/21/2023
    Q
    Using Dimension 2EW and Certainty
I want to use a mixture Certainty and Dimension 2EW in my zoysia (which is now dormant). I have a lot of poa annua and a few other weeds. The application rates per the labels are different for each so may have to apply separately. Is it ok to spray Dimension 2EW and turn right around and spray Certainty or vice versa?
    A
Dimension 2EW Herbicide can be applied prior to weed germination for listed weeds as directed in spring or fall. If applied per each product label instructions as directed they can be applied to established listed turfgrasses including zoysia. Poa annua germinates in the fall so applying Pendulum 2G or other pre-emergent herbicide labeled for the weed and zoysia can be applied at the appropriate timing in your region. Certainty Herbicide should be applied when weeds are actively growing and temperatures are between 65-85 degrees.

    Q
Can dimension 2EW be used on red apple (aptenia cordifolia)
It is not on the tolerant ornamental list. Perhaps you have knowledge or a client that has used on red apple without damage.
    A
Unfortunately, the Dimension 2EW Herbicide is not labeled to be used on aptenia cordifolia. We would recommend contacting the manufacturer, Dow AgroSciences at 800-992-5994 - option 4.

    Q
How long do we need to wait to apply new St. Augustine sod after an application?
I am in Jacksonville Florida and I just applied dimension to an apartment complex that has ST. Augustine grass. They are planning to put down some sod around April in some of the areas will that be ok or do they have to wait longer to put down the sod.

You will need to wait at least 3 months after the application of Dimension 2EW Herbicide. To be on the safe side, we would recommend waiting until May to put the sod down.

  • Asked by Dennis from Windber, Pa
    03/24/2016
    Q
Will dethatching a treated lawn compromise the effectiveness of Dimension 2EW?
    A

It would be best to dethatch the lawn before applying a pre-emergent like Dimension 2EW to a lawn so that the product can make better contact with the soil to create the barrier, and so that the barrier is not disturbed as it would be if you applied then dethatched.

  • Asked by John from Falls Church, Va
    05/19/2016
    Q
What precautions or risks are there for using this near a 10 acre lake and within the runoff area?
    A

We would not recommend using Dimension 2EW Herbicide in areas where runoff could occur. This could be harmful to aquatic organisms. We generally recommend not spraying when it is windy out so the product will not drift.

  • Asked by Brian from Central Oh
    08/23/2016
    Q
What is the best herbicide to eradicate established dallisgrass in my tall fescue lawn?
    A

Unfortunately, since Dallisgrass is closely related to Tall Fescue, generally what kills one will kill the other. We normally recommend hand pulling, if possible, or using something like Roundup QuikPro to spot treat the Dallisgrass, and then reseeding with Tall Fescue once the Dallisgrass is gone. We recommend using something Dimension as a pre-emergent for you to try to help prevent having to control as much with a post emergent down the road. Often with a few years of fall and spring applications you can get decent prevention.

  • Asked by Donya from Sherwood, Ar
    09/06/2016
    Q
What do I need to get stickers out of my grass?
I have been told there is something I can spray on my yard to get the stickers out of my yard. I was told it needed to be sprayed on my yard in Sept. and no later than Oct. can you tell me what it is.
    A

Pre-emeregent application of Dimension 2EW or Pendulum 2G will kill sandburs. The treated area should not be disturbed during this period and should be watered in thoroughly for best results. As always, read and follow label directions carefully. Also remember that it may take a couple of years to eliminate all the burs hiding in your lawn. We recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff as he/she may be able to tell you what has worked best in your region and also the exact time to apply the products for the best result in your region.

Depending on what type of lawn you have, Hi Yield 2, 4-D will treat sticker bur actively growing. We recommend also to make sure there is an adequate amount of water being applied to your turf as sometimes lack of water can cause sticker bur.

    Q
Is my understanding correct that I can spray my boxwoods and pygmy barberry with Dimension 2EW?
I have crabgrass growing in the barberry. Can't reach in to pull it, thorns, OUCH!
    A

Yes, Dimension 2EW Herbicide can be sprayed directly on the crabgrass that is growing in and around the pygmy barberry and boxwoods. This product should not be sprayed over the top of these ornamentals. Keep in mind that Dimension is a pre-emergent herbicide and will only control newly emerged crabgrass up to the 4-tiller stage.

  • Asked by Mark from Forney, Tx
    01/10/2017
    Q
Should I make a Dimension 2EW and Roundup application?
In North Texas I usually spray my 1 acre Bermuda lawn in mid March with Roundup to kill any remaining weeds before the bermuda starts to grow again. This year I'd like to mix Dimension 2EW and PERMACAP CS in with the Roundup and spray simultaneously. Will that be a problem?
    A

No, Dimension  2EW can be tank mixed with a variety of other herbicides and fertilizers. It is always recommended to do a test mix first to make sure whatever product you are wanting to use with the Dimension blends easily and does not cause clumping or any reaction that would cause your equipment to clog. Keep in mind the RoundUP is a non-selective herbicide, so it will kill any plants that you spray with it. If you are planning on doing a lawn renovation such as reseeding, you will need to wait a full season after applying Dimension before you can reseed the lawn.

  • Asked by Kevin from San Antonio, Tx
    01/12/2017
    Q
Will the application of Dimension 2EW affect bluebonnets?
We live in central Texas and have an area in the yard that produces bluebonnets each spring that my wife loves. If I treat that area with Dimension, will that affect the bluebonnet patch, or should I avoid that area?
    A

As long as the bluebonnets are not growing from seed or transplanting, an application of Dimension 2EW Herbicide in the area should not effect them since it is labeled to be used around landscape ornamentals.
