best trap ever
By Bonnie on 11/29/2015
I have had nothing but trouble with traps. Seems like none of them would hold up. Animals destroyed them as soon as they were caught. Right after I got my trap here, caught a big coon and the trap never suffered any damage. I would highly recommend this trap for anyone not only home trappers but pros also.

It works great!
By Darin on 10/05/2014
This is the same trap I saw professional guys using and thought I would try it myself. It has worked great. I like that it is heavy duty. I like the very simple door trip mechanism, and I love the easy release. My only comment is I think there should be something to latch down the small bait insertion door. Easy enough to overcome at home but it should be built in. This is an excellent product that I would recommend to anyone.

Raccoon problem
By Robert on 02/25/2016
I received the large raccoon trap and I set it up in the attic. It was very simple to set and I was sure it would work. I also set up a game camera I had to record what happened. I heard the trap set and I went up into the attic a few minutes later. The trap was sprung but no raccoon. The door was completely closed. I grabbed the camera and reviewed the pictures. It only takes a picture every few seconds or so. It recorded one in the cage and a second one, that I did not know about, outside the cage. 45 pics later the raccoon was in the cage, the door was closed fully, and the next pic it was outside the cage. The camera did not get the actual escape. For the life of me I do not know how a full grown raccoon could have escaped from that cage. They have not tried again since but I will keep at it.

Good trap
By Marianna on 07/22/2016
This is exactly the style of trap that we were looking for. It has the best closing mechanism available. We ordered this trap since we had bought a similar model years ago and it works well. Our only issue is that the trap was damaged when we received it. Some of the wires were bent and broken, so we had to repair it.

Raccoon Trap
By Wayne on 07/27/2017
I bought the large trap because my old trap seemed to be too small for raccoons up to 22lbs. [I weighed one].This one is plenty large and heavy and functions well. It does seem to be rusting quickly [not galvanized]. I was careless with the large bar gaps on the door and was rewarded with a bitten finger. 1/2" mesh everywhere would protect careless people like me.

Great trap!
By Judy on 07/20/2018
1st week we caugh 2 raccoons, 1 possum and one woodchuck. Easy to bait and set. We set our trap on a piece of plywood so the animals couldn't tear up the dirt and placed 2 heavy blocks on top of the trap too prevent varmit from tipping it over. Very good product.

Good overall trap
By Brian on 06/14/2019
The trap is very large and can catch just about anything. The only problem was on the second night I caught a 20 pound raccoon. They are very smart and it broke the little hatch in the back that you bait the trap. I don't know how it fit though the hole but it had 2/3 of its body out. It's hips got stuck. I just zip tied the gate back on because it got ripped off the cage.

Got the job done...
By David on 07/06/2018
After using other traps where the Raccoons kept stealing the bait from the sides, I found the perfect solution with a tighter mesh trap in the back of the cage. I also was pleasantly surprised to find an access hatch to load the bait at the top of the cage. I would suggest that the manufacturer put an instruction sheet on how to set the trap and lock the bait access door. I used a small screw driver to run through the top of the cage to the back edge to lock it down. As far as results, we caught two raccoons in the first week of using it. We are now trying to catch a red fox that occasionally comes around. Glad I found this trap at a very fair price.

Duke Heavy Duty Large #1114
By P on 08/08/2018
Duke #1114 is heavy gauge and the wire screen is small, whereas, the animal cannot reach through the wire screen. The one door has the largest opening (the vertical bars). There is a metal ring on each side at the top which slides down to lock the door, when the trap is set. I attached a nylon rope onto the middle of the door's vertical bars tied the door open. The racoons went in and out for the food. When they were groomed not to be afraid to enter, I set the trap. I used the rope and a horseshoe-shaped coated wire attached to the metal poles which the rings slide up and down onto. I am able to pull up the rings to open the door, using the rope and coated wire, without having to stick my fingers between the rings and cage door. I.ve trapped the mom and 3 of her babies and relocated them. Sturdy trap. With modifications it is safe and works great. :)

Just Buy This One!
By Lee on 04/03/2018
I searched around many websites for the best trap to catch large wild cats/racoon/fox that were attacking my livestock. My biggest problem is that I have caught a new animal EVERY day that I set it for about 5 days in a row, so I have to keep clearing the trap. The quality of the cage was amazing. Very sturdy metal and even really big wild (coon) cats had no chance of getting out. Easy to set and easy to clear. For lighter animals (smaller sized domestic cats), you may need to set the trap trigger closer to the edge or be OK with them eating and leaving. The price was amazing. Shipping was fast. Very high quality. I am not a Pro, but this trap sure makes me feel like one. I cannot say enough positive things about this unit. Save yourself the hassle of checking elsewhere (or look and see how great the price is here).

Trap was anything but heavy duty
By Alan on 04/03/2020
I bought this trap because it was described as heavy duty.I set out the trap for a raccoon that night.Checked the trap the next morning, found the raccoon spread the support bars on the front entrance were spread apart and raccoon escaped. Also the raccoon had broken a one inch by six inch piece of the screen by the entrance door. This a poorly constructed trap for raccoon.

Best Trap Ever!!
By Kerry on 04/10/2018
This is the best live trap I have ever used. Far better than Haveaheart, easier to set and better made. The door really locks when the rings come down and it is the best for large raccoons. It has a top hatch for putting in bait, but you will need to wire it down or put a clip on it. For the price, you can't beat it, and it will last for years!

Good Performance w/Exceptions
By Rc on 09/21/2018
All went well with trapping a fat possum during the first use of this trap. But as for trapping the raccoon we were after; field cam showed trapped raccoon making the trap "roll". The trap eventually rolled and landed upside down which caused the trap door to become released ....and the raccoon took off leaving the trap empty. Since that event, I made some stabilizer rails and attached them to bottom of trap. Baited the trap and reset it. Caught female raccoon. Field Cam video failed to capture the trapping event. The trapped raccoon has been turned loose at a river area about 10 miles from our rural home. Hopefully she does not find her way back.

Heavy Duty Trap
By Jeff on 10/06/2018
Ordered a trap (Duke Heavy Duty Trap (1114). It got here fast and it's a good quality trap. I've looked at several traps before I bought this one and this one is far superior. Heavy wire, and to release the animal all you have to do is turn the cage over and the door will open

TRAP CAGE
By Enrique on 03/13/2018
After 2 days the solder on the trap broke had to use wire to hold it also after 3 days it it began to rust. The trap door would not close since it had to be a very heavy weight in order to spring it. As a whole it is not worth the money or the headache.

Great Coon Trap
By Alan on 03/24/2018
Does a great job
By Arseniy on 06/08/2019
The Trap is fairly simple, easy to use. My only complaint is that a small raccoon was able to escape from a back door, as there is no lock. I used wire to shut the back door but then I have to constantly remove the wire and put more wire to shut the back door.

Did he escape, poor design?
By Rodger on 09/28/2018
There is nothing to keep the bait door shut and I think somehow the fox got out thru it. I think some update to the design of this trap is necessary. They forgot to put a lock or clamp on the hinged door. There was hair on it after bait gone and door shut .. It may have been a rat but all the fish was gone. ??? Still this design seems very deficient.

Three nights, three captures
By William on 08/03/2019
Very pleased with the effectiveness of this live trap. I wired the bait door before using as suggested. Two of the three raccoons were in the 30 pound range and very aggressive but unable to escape the cage. The largest was observed trying to rock the trap over to release itself, but placement on a flat soil surface and its own weight prevented its escape. I did not expect how difficult it was to lift the heavy cage and its thrashing content... dropped it and almost lost the captive. Apparently a hazard of success.
