Not Impressed
By Anonymous on 05/31/2013
I have to say that after placing numerous applications of Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait Gel and watching the majority of carpenter ants, ignore the bait, I can not recommend it. I was hoping to get better results, but most ants just walked around the applications without even stopping.

Carpenter Ant Gel

Carpenter ants are still active
By Anonymous on 08/21/2013
I'm on my second order of Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait Gel. I've been using it for 3 weeks. It knocks the ants down and their dust & shavings lessen, but if I do not apply the bait for two or three days, the ants become visually active again. Obviously, the bait has not reached the queen. It is premature to remit a positive report on this product.

Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait Gel Works!
By Nick on 06/23/2014
Eliminated carpenter ants in just a few days. I found that they were coming in from the attic and put the gel near the source. Gone in 3 days. Don't call an exterminator if you don't have to. I did spend some time watching them (rather than killing them) to figure out where they were coming from before putting it out. That seems to be the key with these little pests.

Not sure if this stuff works...
By Tony on 07/07/2014
I have put this bait down a number of times over the past few weeks. First, the ants don't seem to be the least bit interested in it. I have twice as many carpenter ants roaming around my house than I did before putting down the bait gel 3 weeks ago. I have tried the combat gel and raid gels prior to this and nothing appears to work. I'll probably just have to use some high octane residual spray now.

MER
By Merlin on 07/11/2014
It was absolutely worthless and a complete waste of money. The instructions said to place a small amount of the gel where the flying ants would carry it back to their nest but it just hardened and did not work. If they got to it quick enough they just stuck to the gel. The worst part is I purchased two of them and they both acted the same way. $40.00 gone for a bad product and I still have the flying ants. Bad Product - Don't waste your money.

Review of Carpenter ant bait gel
By Lee on 07/14/2014
Great stuff, we came home after being away for two weeks and found carpenter ants all through our kitchen drawers, cereal boxes and trash cans. After receiving this product, I watched the ants at night to see where they were going and found a few nests. After putting it out near the nests and various other places, there were no more ants. It really worked well for us!

Carpenter Ant bait gel
By Wendy on 10/15/2014
So far I haven't seen any evidence that they have eaten the product. No dead ants!!
Expert response:
If the ants are not foraging for sweets or carbohydrates, then they will not be attracted to the gel bait immediately. We recommend offering a protein bait, as well, such as the Advance Granular Carpenter Ant Bait, so that you are offering both food sources for which the ants may be foraging: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/advance-carpenter-ant-bait-p-173.html

Did the Job
By Danny on 12/31/2015
I had a colony of carpenter ants somewhere in the walls of my house. Tried several "treatment and bait" options with no success until using the Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait. Did not observe many ants taking the bait but after only three days, the ants disappeared. I am very happy with the results.

The best I've found
By Jim on 11/16/2016
We have an A-frame in the north woods and carpenter ants were all along the peak. I put granular ant killer in many places near the ridge to no avail. The advantage of using Maxforce Gel for me was being able to inject it in tiny openings along the ridge. We went back up a month later to find hundreds, maybe thousands of dead ants everywhere - so many that I worry a little about the structural integrity of the house.

Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait worked in 2 days!
By Cheryl on 08/10/2017
Had carpenter ants in my birch tree and used another product which didn't work. Bought this gel and drew a circle around each tree trunk so the ants had to run into it. As soon as I applied the gel the ants immediately started eating it. The second day I counted maybe 5-10 ants on the tree. Day 3 and to-date, no ants. It has been over 2 weeks and still no ants. Wonderful product that's easy, quick acting and effective. Plus, you can apply the gel higher up on the tree which is safer for children and pets.

It Works!!!!
By John on 09/09/2017
I used this product along with Advance Carpenter Ant Bait(Granules). The first 2 days the ants were all over the gel and other ants were taking the granules back to the nest. I noticed less ant activity on day 3. I saw only 2 ants. After day 3 I have not seen any ants and it is day 8. I had a professional service trying to kill the ants for the last 3 years. Use these 2 products and read the labels. Do not interfere with their direct path to the nest. THIS STUFF WORKS!!!

Clean log home (no more saw dust)
By Tim on 06/13/2010
My wife and I live in a log cabin sided post and beam home, so when I noticed black ants and saw dust on our bedroom window sill I was very concerned. After close inspection I found what I can say with relative certainty, the nest site (at least one nest site). Our walls are tongue and groove pine paneling so I knew from the start it was going to be tough to poison them. I did some research on the web and decided on MaxForce gel because of the syringe applicator. After two weeks there is no new saw dust. I am ready to do the second dose and I am quite confident that Maxforce has done a great job! Signed "sleeping better at night".

Didn't Work Well For Me
By Michael on 06/28/2010
Purchased this product because of the good reviews and the recommendation from a pest control company. Baited around each room and was surprised that the tube really doesn't go very far. The tube was less than half filled when I received it. Still was seeing ants a week later and baited again until I ran out of it. After baiting twice over 12 days I am still seeing both alive and dead carpenter ants around the house.

I bought this for carpenter ants.
By Don on 07/18/2011
I bought this because we had ants coming through the wall at a window, after doing a lot of homework this seemed the best product to control that. We had a hardware store brand ant bait out and they just ate that and moved on, I put max force on small aluminum foil squares and ants were totally wiped out in three days. It worked for me.

Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait Gel
By Carol on 10/12/2011
Actually worked very well. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is I want to withhold judgement until I see the ants are gone for good. The gel worked great. I traced the ants back along the kitchen walls and could see them coming in on top of the door to the patio. I put the gel on top of the door and it totally stopped the ants. It worked much better than granule baits which could have fallen off the top of the door onto the floor for curious grandchildren to pick up. I found some dead ants on the floor inside by the door for a few days but no live ants at all in the kitchen. I had to reapply it after about 2 weeks but again it stopped the ants immediately. Still waiting on long term results.

carpenter ant bait

Seems to have worked
By David on 05/20/2012
I used this in conjunction with granular bait for a major ant infestation in my walls and ceiling. It seems to have worked. It took several days but the ants seem to be gone from the interior of the house and there are few left on the exterior. The only criticism I have is the small size of the tube and the expensive price, but I guess it's still cheaper than hiring an exterminator.

Great product
By Barbara on 08/30/2017
Since I have been using the black ant bait I have NOT seen a single black ant. I paid hundreds of dollars to an exterminator and it had temporary results. Your product has seemed to resolved the problem. I will continue to use it and hopefully will continue to not have a black ant problem. Thank you!!

Gel effectiveness
By Jay on 12/04/2017
Used the Gel at entrance points on door sill along with bait tray and Granular Insect Bait. Results were disappointing. There was no new fras for a few days, then it appeared again. We have reapplied it several times since with same results. Instructions could have been clearer, but the Carpenter ant bait does not work.

Great stuff!
By Mike on 05/11/2018
Carpenter ants love this stuff. They circle up and feed on it voraciously and all activity ceases within 48 hours. Don't call an exterminator who will merely use the same gel and charge five times the cost of doing it yourself.

Works! We used both
By Thor on 05/18/2018
We actually witnessed ants taking granules of the protein bait back to their nest(s) and rolling around in the sweet bait. Days later, no ants. Now, we did notice ants in other areas (acre + yard) so, those were different colonies and we have more than enough to do those also.

GREAT STUFF
By George on 05/27/2018
I had a major ant problem near the front door. I put this stuff in the corners and the ants attacked it like no ones business. The next morning, I saw no ants near the front door, and the ones I did see were dead. I do see a few random ones around the kitchen area, and near the back door as well. I just ordered another tube. The back door I noticed had these insects that jump. I thought they were ants, but ants usually don't jump like these things. Hopefully this stuff will get rid of them too.

We killed the queen!
By Nikki on 06/23/2018
Took awhile to watch the ants and find their entry point. However, within 2 days of applying it ants started falling out of my cedar ceiling dead a few times a day and I knew it was working! Now 2 weeks later no more dead ants and I've seen none crawling around inside!
