  • Asked by Jane from Waltham, Ma
    07/12/2022
    Q
If Merit 0.5 G Insecticide Granules is applied to turfgrass areas next to a vegetable bed, are the vegetable plants safe?
The company that takes care of our lawn just put down Merit grub control with fertilizer (3.5 lbs/1000 sf). It's 90° here with a strong breeze up to 20 mph and the note they left in my door says 'stay off area for 24 hours; water in product for best results'. I have herbs and some vegetables growing in a border next to grass, which was presumably treated -- just inches away. With the wind, I am concerned about whether the wind may have spread Merit to these plants, making them unsafe to eat. I've watered in the grass areas around the vegetables. Will the vegetable be safe to eat?
    A

It is recommended that applications of Merit 0.5 G Insecticide Granules should stay well outside the dripline of edible plants or atleast 3ft to 6ft away from any edibles for extra precaution. If you are concerned some of the plants may have absorbed the granules, it would recommended to discard tho…
