The OMRI Natural Insect Control Kit provides you with the OMRI listed products you need to control insects while complying with the USDA Natural Organic Program Rules for certified organic production or food processing and handling. The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) is a national nonprofit organization that determines which input products are allowed for use in organic production and processing.
What's included in the OMRI Natural Insect Control Kit?
Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate and Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust
What is Pyrethrum?
Pyrethrum is a botanical insecticide produced primarily in the flowers of Tanacetum cinerariaefolium, a species of the chrysanthemum plant family.
Why these products?
Pyrethrum has been used effectively to control insects for decades and is non-persistent, decomposing rapidly in the environment. This rapid degradation of pyrethrum has resulted in little known cases of insect resistance making it an excellent choice for the control of insects in a wide variety of settings.
MGK's Evergreen line of products are made with Chrysanthemum Flowers that have been registered with OMRI as cleared to be used in Organic production and processing.
What does this mean for me?
OMRI Natural Insect Control Kit provides the option to be fully compliant with National organic standards.
Gives treatment options that will effectively kill my nuisance pest in a wide variety of situations.
Allows me to use a botanical insecticide following my choice for natural pest control.
Evergreen Pyrethrum concentrate is a 5% concentrate that is mixed with water.
Evergreen Pyrethrum concentrate will provide quick knockdown of pests that are present at time of application.
Please read the label and determine which pests you are treating for. You will find the mix ratio listed for your pest. Example 1 fluid ounce Evergreen Pyrethrum concentrate of per 1 gallon of water.
Mix Evergreen Pyrethrum concentrate in an approved compressed air sprayer, spray bottle, or other approved method.
Follow the label in preparation of the area, surface, plant, or animal to be treated.
Apply the mixture to area desired, As directed on the label.
Application Tip: Remember that Evergreen Pyrethrum concentrate does not have a long residual so the effective killing power will be diminished within a few hours and reapplication will be needed for heavy infestations.
Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1%
A 1% Pyrethrum Dust and silica gel combination.
This is a combination that provides quick kill and long term control.
Application is best performed with the aid of a hand duster for small to medium sized applications.
Dust is best applied to the cracks and crevices of furniture, walls, wall voids, cabinets and other areas pest can hide or travel. Please read directions if applying to plants, Farm animals or poultry for more details.
Application Tip: When using dusts always remember the rule, Light... Not White. This means you only need a small amount in small areas. You do not have to apply to the point that it looks like there is a blanket of snow covering the area.
Dusts are most effective if they do not get wet.
Apply Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust after application of Evergreen Concentrate has dried.
The liquid concentrate used properly in a liquid yard sprayer worked great for about 5 days keeping the mosquitoes away. I'm in a wet area of FL where the mosquitoes can almost carry you off, so it is a major accomplishment and it is much cheaper than the premixed version that was working for me previously. And this one does not appear to kill off the beneficial bugs like other pesticides, but I spray very carefully.
What pests does the Natural Insect Kit control? Roaches and ants? Is it safe for indoor animals/pets?
The products within the Natural Insect Kit will control a wide variety of pest including ants, spiders, roaches, mosquitoes, millipedes, flies and many others that are listed on the individual product labels. They can be used indoors and out and will be safe for pets and kids as long as you use the products according to the label and keep them out of the area both during application, and until treated surfaces have dried.
Will the OMRI Natural Insect Control Kit kill my bees?
The Natural insecticide products within this kit are not selective so if a bee were to land on a surface you sprayed it on it would likely kill them. The best tips we can offer to have the product not affect the bees would be to spray late in the afternoon when the bees are not active and have gone back to the hive for the day and try to avoid spraying directly over blooms.
Can I use the evergreen dust directly on chickens? They have mites and possibly lice.
