Is it safe for pets?
I saw the answer that after this product is dry it is safe for pets. I kept pets off the yard for 24 hours. The lawn is completely dry but why do white dogs have a yellow stain from the product on them? Is that normal? Is that safe? Should I wait until the product is watered in before letting them back on?

Weed control is most effective when Prodiamine 65WDG is activated by at least 0.5 inches of rainfall or irrigation or shallow incorporation (1 to 2 inches) before weed seeds germinate and within 14 days following application. It will not kill anything that is actively growing. Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension is a very popular pre-emergent herbicide for sandbur. Is Prodiamine 65 wdg a good choice for weeds that pop up in late spring and summer?
I use RM43 or Roundup in weedeater areas and on unused portions of gravel driveways. Everything is killed and dies off but spurweed, crabgrass looking weeds, and several broadleaf weeds grow back in full force a few weeks after the killoff. Is this a good choice for late spring/summer pre-emergent? I realize now I need to use this late winter or early spring but since I'm beyond that what about this year?

Using the Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) should be fine to use for prevention as long as it's down at the right soil temps, and labeled safely to apply on your turf type. If there are no roots of any trees or other desirable plants nearby/within 5-10 feet of where the gravel is, he could use a soil sterilizer like TVC with roundup/rm43 to kill what's there and prevent more growth of anything for a while.

Yes, you can mix a pre such as Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) with a post emergent such as Celsius WG Herbicide. We would recommend doing a jar test prior though to ensure they do not separate or have any other chemical reaction.

My lot receives flood irrigation (4ish inches of water) every 2 weeks in the summer. I was wondering if too much water would mitigate the impact of prodiamine.

Yes, Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is safe for pets as long as it is used as directed. Pets do need to be kept out of the area while the product is being applied, but can be allowed to re-enter the area once the product is dry (usually within a few hours).

However, you can use Celsius WG Herbicide for existing spurge that has already emerged. Just keep your pets out of the area while applying & they may return once the product has dried. You will also want to consult with your extension for the appropriate time to apply a pre-emergent.

The best and longest-lasting pre-emergent herbicide to use around areas like a gravel driveway where you do not want any plants to grow would be a vegetation management product like TVC Total Vegetation Control. This product will prevent any plant growth in those areas for up to 1 year. Just be sure not to apply in a way that would run off or contact the roots of desirable plants/turf since this product last for so long. If you have existing weeds in the gravel areas, then you can use Roundup QuikPro to spot treat and kill any existing plants.

Is is product safe to use on a white clover, Tall Fescue, & Annual Ryegrass lawn? I don't see Clover or ryegrass called out on the datasheet, so just want to double-check! Also is this effective on horseweed (Erigeron Canadensis) and/or Sandbur grass (Cenchrus Longispinus).

Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) does list perennial ryegrass and tall fescue as tolerable to applications on the label. This is a pre-emergent only that will not affect any actively growing weeds and only prevents the weeds listed on the label when applied before they germinate which does not include sandbur or horseweed. Something like Pendulum 2G would be more recommended for Sandbur. We are not able to find a pre-emergent labeled for horseweed.

How long before horses can graze?

Prodiamine 65 WDG cannot be used in pastures where animals will graze. We apologize, but we are not aware of a pre-emergent herbicide that can be used in grazing areas. You may want to contact your local cooperative extension office to see if they have any recommendations.
