    Q
Can I use liquid dish soap instead of surfactant with QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer?
    A

We do not recommend using dish soap to replace the required surfactant when using QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer.  Some can be ionic and may damage your lawn.  We recommend using something like Duo Stick for best results.

    Q
It says not to use QuinKill Max on Bahia or St.Augustine, but can it be used in a spot treatment manner?
    A

QuinKill Max cannot be used on Bahia or St. Augustine grass.  If you need to spot treat, you can also always use a non-selective herbicide such as RoundUp QuikPro and then replant in those areas.

  • Asked by Richard from Union, Sc

    Q
What is the best way to treat mid to late summer crabgrass?
I am in South Carolina. I have used quinclorac, with and without a surfactant, with little success . I have bermuda grass and pets. Rain is irregular here and I have three acres to treat. Can you suggest an effective alternate that addresses the crabgrass and is safe for the bermuda and pets? If a premergent is suggested for next season, please make a sugestion also. Thank you
    A

Quinclorac is a great active to use and it must be used with a methylated seed oil surfactant such as Duo Stick for best results.  With QuinKill max that you purchased, the timing is key though, under certain conditions, application of QuinKill made to annual grasses at 2 to 4 tiller may not provide complete control. A sequential application will be required for grass control in these situations. Optimum control is achieved when applications of QuinKill + methylated seed oil are applied either before second tiller or as weed grasses mature.

What rate was it applied it?  Do you know what tiller stage the crabgrass was at?  How many applications have been made at what timing between them?  What type of surfactant was used? Q is a slow kill and can take up to 6 weeks to kill.

Q4 is an alternative that can kill faster and Dimension as a pre-emergent is good, it also has early post emergent crabgrass control.

    Q
When is the best time to apply QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer for crabgrass?
    A

QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer is a post-emergent herbicide, so the best time to apply it is when the target weeds are actively growing. If you are targeting crabgrass, then it is best to treat in late spring/early summer when the crabgrass is still small, or later in the summer or early fall when the grass has resumed growing again. We have a great article here that can advise on the best time and treatments for elimination. For specific timing in your region, we would suggest contacting your local cooperative extension

  • Asked by Carol from Nc

    Q
Can I use Speedzone along with Quinkill Max Crabgrass & Weed Killer?
I am currently using Speedzone and very happy with it, but now the crabgrass is starting to come up in spots. Can I use Quinkill at the same time or alternate, or would that stress the grass too much?
    A

After speaking with the manfuacturer they have advised to use the Quinkill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer to treat the crabgrass and to rotate your application with the Speedzone to prevent resistance of the herbicide. You can mix with Pendulum 3.3 EC to create a better residual effect. It is recommended to use a surfactant when applying the product to gain better control.

  • Asked by Randy from Aiken, Sc

    Q
How well does QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer work on winter bluegrass plus broadleaf weeds?
    A

QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer is not labeled to kill poa annua, or annual bluegrass. In fact, bluegrass is highly tolerant to quinclorac. QuinKill Max can be used for some broadleaf species, including clovers, dollarweed, and speedwell. For better control of broadleaf weeds, you will probably want to tank mix with another product with 2,4-D or Trimec, such as Fertilome Weed-Out Lawn Weed Killer with Trimec. Be sure to check the product label to be sure it is safe to use on your turf. Q
Can QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer be used on Kentucky Bluegrass to treat small amounts of clover in my lawn?
I read "Do not apply where clovers are present". Why is this?
    A

QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer can be used on Kentucky Bluegrass lawns to kill clovers and many other weeds. The verbiage on the product label stating “DO NOT apply to Bahiagrass, carpetgrass, St. Augustinegrass, centipedegrass, dichondra, or lawns or turf where desirable clovers are present” would be referring to lawns that use clovers for desirable ground cover.
