Q

Which product is a white powder base poison that is 0.01% that i may purchase
A pest control came to my mothers home and used a white powder base poison to rid the home of rats in the attic / roof. The gentleman placed the powder in a PVC shaped in a "T" filled the long part of the tube with the powder and at the end of the PVC shaped in a "T" he opened up the two top ends and filled it with peanut butter on one side and anchovies on the other. Closed the lids where the Peanut Butter and the Anchovies where placed, placed the PVC in the attic and sure enough the stampede of rats came and then no longer to be found...

A

Unfortunately the product that was probably used was the Ditrac Tracking powder which is a restricted used product only available to licensed professionals. We do a product called Rat X which would be recommended safe for use when baiting inside.

How much Rat X does a rat have to consume to kill them?

A

A rat would have to consume 40-60 grams, or 1.5 to 2 ounces of Rat X, or about 10-15 pellets for a lethal dose.

Will Rat X harm squirrels?

A

Rat X is a non-toxic rodent bait that kills rodents without harming any other species. There is not enough research to say if it kills squirrels or not, but it may be harmful since squirrels are classified as rodents.

Can I use this in the bait station along with the Terad3?

D you open the throw packs of Rat X or lay them around as they are?
Do I need to open the throw packs or do I lay them around like they are.

There is no need to unwrap Rat X as rodents will chew through it.

A

Yes, when using Rat X, protect bait points from water. Inspect bait points frequently and replace any baits which become wet and re-site in a dry location.

Will RatX kill squirrels?

A

Rat X is only labeled to eradicate mice and rats. However, it is possible that the product will harm those that are also in the rodent family such as chipmunks, squirrels, etc.

It is recommended to protect the Rat X application from rain/wet surfaces or conditions. Inspect bait points frequently and replace any baits which become wet and re-site in a dry location.

Is Rat X harmful to pets if ingested?

A

Rat X will only work on mice and rats, and is safe for other animals since it is non-toxic for them. There is no risk of secondary poisoning. Of course, if you have concerns, it is recommended to contact your vet.

I do not see any rat droppings around the Rat X container which has been emptied every night for five days.

Keep in mind, too, that rats will hoard food, so they make take a lot of loose bait and not consume it all right away. Be sure to follow the label instructions for size and frequency of bait placements, as well as placing bait in stations to protect it from non-target animals like pets, from weathering, and from being translocated easily. You can also make packs of bait and place them directly in burrows, per the label instructions.

If I have outdoor cats will Rat X harm them if they eat the rats that have ingested Rat X?

A rat/mouse only consumes a very small amount of bait at a time and passes it very quickly only keeping a smaller amount in their liver until they succumb to the effects of the bait. A cat would have to actually eat 20-30 mice that have consumed the bait for it to have an effect. In most cases, well fed domesticated animals will not actually eat a mouse or a rat that they come across. Instead they will play with it, chew it and then leave it behind. We recommend that you keep the product out of their reach when stored in a cool, dry place and apply as directed on the product label.

Will Rat X will still be effective if I see where the mouse has thrown it up?

A

It would really depend on how much Rat X the rodent has already consumed. Mice need to consume at least 10-15 grams of bait (1/3 – ½ oz) for a lethal dose. Per the product label, continue to supply fresh bait until you have had at least 48 hours without any takes on the bait.

Your advise against mixing RatX with other foods but don't explain why. Why would adding butter be bad?
Several of your answers advise against mixing RatX with other foods but don't explain why. The rats I'm trying to get rid of LOVE butter and are 100?fective at springing a spring trap without getting caught. Then they eat the butter. I even tried putting butter in every night without setting the trap and then finally setting it, but they still found away to snap it safely. My order of RatX hasn't come yet, but my original idea was to mix it with butter, knowing that they'd have to try it while to get the butter and hopefully develop a taste for it.

Since it works to dehydrate the animal mixing any food addititives, especially wet ones, would get in the way of the product working the way it is designed with its unique ingredient components. If you wish to use butter as a lure on a poison bait, we recommend doing so with bait blocks that would be able to tolerate the ingredients and still be effective when consumed.
