Read Full Answer »The Scotts Turf Builder Weed and Feed 1 contains post-emergent herbicide for broadleaf weeds plus a 28-0-3 fertilizer. So the reason this is usually used in spring is because of the high nitrogen content. You would want to be careful about using that much nitrogen on your lawn when it's very hot, especially with cool-season turfgrasses which don't need as much nitrogen per year as warm-season grasses. Usually in the fall you would apply pre-emergent herbicide to prevent weeds and possible a winterizer fertilizer that has less nitrogen and more potassium.QRoughly how long does Scotts Turf Builder Weed and Feed 1 take to absorb?Put the product down Monday.
