The active ingredient in Talstar PL granules is bifenthrin, which is a residual non-selective insecticide. The residual could harm non-target insects like bees if they were to come into contact with enough active ingredient for several weeks after application. However, since this is a granule insecticide that is applied directly to the ground and then activated with water, it is very unlikely any pollinators like bees would actually come into contact with the treated areas. The bigger risk would be from sprays, so we recommend applying sprays in the morning or evening when pollinators are less active, as well as avoiding spraying blooming plants to reduce risk to pollinators.
Talstar PL Granules can be used for scorpions following the instructions on the product label: To ensure optimum control, treat the building perimeter at dusk to prevent outdoor scorpions from entering the building. Scorpions reside hidden in cracks and voids during the day and are active at night at temperatures above 77ºF/25ºC. Resting areas can be identified at night using a blacklight (UV bulb) as scorpions will fluoresce. These areas should also be treated. Prior to treatment, to increase treatment efficacy, remove trash, debris, or firewood that scorpions may use as resting sites
We also have a great guide here for Scorpion Control with non chemical recommendations.
There are no toxic products labeled for frogs or toads (or reptiles for that matter), and given the highly beneficial nature of these amphibians there is not likely to be anything coming along. The reasons they are on your property are because they can find food and proper habitat, and these are probably your only means for making them go away. Take away their food and they will forage somewhere else. Take away the conditions they need for hiding all day and they will seek refuge someplace else.
Habitat modification may be the more effective way to limit frogs on your property. Frogs are mainly nocturnal, and they seek food at night when it is cooler and damper. During the day they look for cool, damp, dark places to hide. They will hide under dense shrubbery or ground covers, under logs or lumber on the soil, or under large landscape rocks and timbers to avoid the hot, dry sun. Trim shrubbery, remove thick ground-cover, stack lumber or firewood off of the soil a few inches and remove any other objects or debris that come in contact with the soil and can provide harborage. Limit watering to help eliminate moisture from your yard. You can also reduce the amount of insects (the frogs food source) in your yard by treating the grass with a residual insecticide such as Talstar PL.

Talstar PL Granules are not labeled to control chiggers. Talstar P and Onslaught<span new="" roman;="" font-size:medium"=""> are top-notch professional products and both are labeled for chiggers. Onslaught is micro-encapsulated and will last a little longer on outdoor surfaces which does give it a bit of advantage over Talstar P. Treatments for chiggers should begin in May and could need to continue through the summer as new chiggers move into the area. Treating the entire lawn is of little benefit because chiggers avoid direct sunlight and normally will not infest areas that are mowed or otherwise well maintained. Focus treatment on the unkempt areas of the lawn and lawn edge. You can also use Onslaught to do a barrier treatment around the outside of your home and in your crawl space to stop pests from moving indoors.
They are both professional strength products. The Talstar PL Granules shouold only be applied as directed every 2-4 onths outside only. Talstar P can be applied to interior crevices quarterly, the lawn, foliar applications outdoors etc monthly.
Talstar PL granules should not be used on or within the dripline or root zone of edible vegetation. Either the PL or the Talstar XTRA could be used, XTRA would just provide a faster kill to the ones that contact a treated area.
Talstar PL Granules are applied with a granule spreader at the rate of 2.3 to 4.6 lb per 1000 sqft. Â Please refer to the product label for more specific tick control instructions. Â Granule products will only control the young stages of ticks really as these are the ones in the soil. Â For adult control it is recommended to use sprays such as those in our Outdoor Tick/Flea Kit. Â We also have some great advice here.
Talstar PL Granules are not labeled to control cockroaches. Talstar P liquid concentrate, however, is labeled for roaches. DeltaGard G Granules are labeled to control cockroaches. Please see our Roach Treatment Guide for more tips and information.
Talstar PL Granules, when applied as directed, should not harm pets at all. There is only enough active ingredient to harm small insects. We would ecommend that you contact FMC, the manufacturer, at 1-800-321-1362 and your veterinarian for further assistance.
Talstar PL Granules are one of the most effective chinch bug treatments on the market. Chinch bugs infest the base of grass plants and are often found in the thatch layer. Irrigate the treated area with up to 0.25 inches of water immediately after application to activate (release from the granule) the insecticide. Chinch bugs can be one of the most difficult pests to control in grasses and the higher applications rates will be required to control populations that contain both nymphs and adults during the summer. It may also be necessary to remove the thatch layer if it exceeds 1 inch in thickness to allow the Talstar to penetrate down to the soil.
If you have a few small spots the St. Augustine runners might fill it in this season (of course water, fertilizer, and lots of sunshine helps). If large portions of the lawn were damaged it will likely be late spring or later of next year before the lawn recovers. Very heavily damaged areas may need to be resodded.
No, unfortunately Talstar PL Granules are not labled for use indoors or can be used in that type of application. We would suggest you use something like Temprid Ready Spray to treat for your pill bugs.
