Talstar PL Granules are not labeled to treat for Bagworms. Talstar P liquid would be a better option. Dilute at 1oz per gallon water.

As long as the reptiles are out of the area while you are doing the actual application of the Talstar and until it is watered in and dry, it shouldn't effect them. You will most likely see a reduction in the reptile populations on your property though as you will be eliminating their food source (insects). Take precaution not to apply to areas with pet snakes.

Talstar PL Granules are not labeled for earthworms. Earthworms are highly beneficial creatures and you will not find a product on the market that is labeled to eliminate them. Talstar PL Granules are labeled for fleas and ticks and not pine bark beetles. Since pine borers are a type of bark beetle you must apply a product directly to the bark to control the beetles and these products are only available in liquid form, Talstar P. Unfortunately there is no easy solution when it comes to pine beetles. Infected trees should be cut down (before the newly hatched beetles fly out of the trees in the spring/summer) and the wood burned or chipped, while other still healthy trees should be sprayed annually to protect them. Because of the natural boring behavior of the beetle they are protected from topically applied insecticides and systemic insecticides (those injected into the tree or applied as a root drench) have proven ineffective for pine beetle infestations. Healthy trees can be protected before the beetles attack by topically spraying them with a synthetic pyrethroid like Talstar. The tree should be sprayed from the ground to 15 ft up the trunk to prevent future infestations. You should contact your local cooperative extension office to find out the best time to start spraying in your region.

When using Talstar PL Granules for Scorpions, is watering needed?
I'm considering bifenthrin granules to complement spraying, which has had poor residual performance so far. The granules would be spread widely and hard to water-in. Watering appears to (1) help activate the chemical and (2) drive it into the soil. I don't need the latter, and if my concern is residual performance, might it not be better to let the stuff sit and gradually activate from ambient moisture? If they will... the label says water-in for most bugs, but oddly not for scorpions.

Granules can typically last 2-3 months whereas liquids like Talstar P? will last about 30 days maybe more on outside surfaces. For scorpions specifically you would want to go with the Cy-Kick CS? that will sit on top of the surface better than granules and being microencapsulated will last on outside surfaces closer to 60 days. The Talstar PL granules would be great to use for the insects the scorpions feed on though.

Talstar PL Granules are not labeled to control chiggers. Talstar Pand Onslaught are top-notch professional products and both are labeled for chiggers. Onslaught is micro-encapsulated and will last a little longer on outdoor surfaces which does give it a bit of advantage over Talstar P. Treatments for chiggers should begin in May and could need to continue through the summer as new chiggers move into the area. Treating the entire lawn is of little benefit because chiggers avoid direct sunlight and normally will not infest areas that are mowed or otherwise well maintained. Focus treatment on the unkempt areas of the lawn and lawn edge. You can also use Onslaught to do a barrier treatment around the outside of your home and in your crawl space to stop pests from moving indoors.

Talstar P Granules is a broad spectrum insecticide and would work well to treat the soil the sod webworms are nesting in. The label does not specify what stage of the webworm it treats. The key to Sod Webworm control is focusing on the larvae, therefore while Talstar P is a great product, depending on the severity of the damage, Provaunt WDG Insecticide might work better as its main focus is the larvae stage of worms and caterpillars. The larva feed mostly at night. Therefore, controlling sod webworms with chemicals successfully means spraying in late afternoon to ensure ingestion of the poison. For the moth stage, spraying Talstar P Liquid Insectide to plants, trees, bushes, shrubs, etc and focusing on the underside of the leaves will help with the moth control. This application should be made between August-February during times when the ground is not frozen as they feed on plant crowns. If treatments are made in March-April, they may only provide suppression. Consult your local extensions agent for specific recommendations for your area.

I noticed that my Bermuda grass had turned brown in patches after application of Talstar PL Granules.
Does Talstar PL cause any damage to Bermuda Grass. My grass turned brown and was easy to pull up soon after the application of Talstar PL.

Talstar PL Granules is an insecticide. It will not harm, inhibit, or promote any kind of growth in turf grass. You may have insect damage or a fungal disease causing your issues.

Talstar PL should not be used in places where the chickens may feed. You may want to consider Talstar P instead. The chickens should be kept out of the area while the product is being applied, but they can safely return once everything is dry.

Talstar PL Granular Insecticide can offer some benefit for ground bees as a prevention.   Ground bees, also known as digger bees, can be very difficult to control no matter what product you use and they most likely will come back to your property year after year unless you do your part to alter your property to make it unfavorable to the bees. Ground bees prefer dry soils with thin grasses so irrigating the area frequently and correcting any issue that causes your grass to be thin will help deter the bees from nesting. In areas where you do not have grass, a layer of mulch will help deter the bees from nesting. Ground bees are solitary bees and are not very aggressive and are known to be a beneficial insect which is why you will not find any products specifically labeled for this type of bee.  For current infestations, you would need to use Delta dust in each individual burrow.

Granule products like Talstar PL Granular Insecticide will only control the young stages of fleas really as these are the ones in the soil. For adult flea control, it is recommended to use sprays such as those in our Outdoor Tick/Flea Kit. We also have a great flea control article here.
