Tempo SC is not recommended to be used inside the home to treat for Bird Mites. There are a few key steps you need to do before using any insecticides. Please read our How to Get Rid of Bird Mite Article for product recommendations and how to treat for this pest. We also recommend contacting your local extension office with a sample of the mite for treatment options in your area.
Tempo SC Ultra is not a true "repellent," so it will not keep insects such as ticks away. The only way to do this would be to seal up all cracks and crevices that allow them access inside. Tempo can be used as a barrier spray to help kill ticks that come into contact with treated surfaces. Please take a few moments to review our article on How to Get Rid of Ticks for more detailed information on how to implement a successful control program for this pest.
Tempo SC Ultra could harm lightning bugs/fireflies if they land on a treated surface long enough to receive a lethal dosage.
Tempo SC Ultra should be used within 24 hours after it is mixed with water.
Temprid SC would be a great product for you. You can apply it indoors cracks and crevices and outdoors. Temprid SC (suspension concentrate) insecticide offers a unique dual mode of action by combining two powerful and effective residual insecticides: beta-cyfluthrin and imidacloprid. The result is Temprid, which provides quick knockdown and long residual control of more than 50 pests, including ants, spiders, cockroaches and other key perimeter pests.
Unfortunately, Tempo SC Ultra is not labeled to treat for grain beetles. We would recommend a product like Onslaught Insecticide. Onslaught produces no odor, is easy to use, and can be used both indoors and outdoors, including food handling areas (please read directions carefully when using in sensitive environments). It is micro-encapsulated, meaning that after the product is sprayed, the active ingredient is released slowly over time, producing long-lasting residual control of insect pests.
Yes, Tempo SC Ultra is labeled to be used to treat for boxelder bugs to be applied directly to them that have congregated around doors and windows and similiar areas where they may enter the structure. Apply a perimeter treatment as described. For best results, you must treat the infested trees early in the season.
Tempo SC will not actually repel mosquitoes, but using it in target areas will help reduce the number of mosquitoes in your yard. Tempo SC Ultra should be sprayed on the underside of leaves on trees and bushes to help control mosquitoes. Mosquitoes like to hide on the underside of leaves during the heat of the day so spraying there will help the mosquitoes come into contact with the Tempo SC.
Cicada Killer wasps thrive in disturbed environments, such as landscaped yards and places where bare soil is exposed. You can discourage the wasps from nesting in your yard by cutting your grass on the highest setting and by adding a thick layer of mulch to flower beds during the Cicada Killer Wasp season. These wasps do not like over saturated lawns either, so over watering during their season will help prevent them. Unfortunately, there is no fool proof way to prevent cicada killer wasps.
We also like to let our customers know that the Cicada Killer wasps are beneficial insects that provide free pest control for a couple months each year. Cicada killer wasps paralyze and provision their burrows with other insects to feed their young. The beneficial Cicada killer wasps, while large and intimidating to see, are mostly harmless and there have been very few reports of anyone getting stung by just being near them. In most cases where a sting was reported, the wasps were being held or molested in some way. Cicada Killer Wasp stings are also reported to be almost painless.
You should be careful to avoid spraying Tempo SC Ultra in a way that would contaminate a swimming pool. You should not apply this or other residual insecticides directly onto pool decks or similar hard surfaces like walkways. We would recommend waiting at least 24 hours to swim if insecticide has gotten into the pool. You should also contact the emergency number on the product Safety Data Sheet if people or pets were in the area at the time.
